Gotta love the second-from-last paragraph:
Gotta love the second-from-last paragraph:
B Stock was the tightest contest of the event, the lead exchanging hands with each round. The AXAnalyst/Austin-Soft.com Nissan 350Z of Glenn Austin, from Snoqualmie, Wash., held the lead at the conclusion of Saturday’s runs, but Matthew Braun, of Northville, Mich., in a PowerPlug Mazda RX-8 wrestled away the win in his final run by a mere 0.081-second.

just got back from O' Canada...I messed up both my days (1st day didn't push hard enough, 2nd day spun out in the rain on my last and best run) - I got 2nd out of 3
...In the end, I think it was a good experience to go to an autoX of that level - my nerves played a bigger role than I had expected. 1st place went to another 350Z from the BC area, so overall it was a 1st 2nd finish for 350Zs! (3rd place was a 240Z...so an all Nissan class)

BSP isn't an easy class to start off with, but not finishing last in your first attempt is an outstanding achievement (especially finishing less than a second out of first)!

Are the results posted?
First350 told me the news today; that he will be co-driving PDX_racer's Z at Nationals.
FTMFW!!!

Guys, I wish you the best of luck. If there's anything I can do to help you guys out before you leave for Topeka, lemme know.

Well, trans and diff fluid changed (Amsoil synthetic now installed).
Shifting seems smoother, some of that may just be the fact that it's new oil, but 2nd and 5th are MUCH happier.
The original transmission fluid looked OK, but smelled bad, the original diff fluid looked OK and didn't smell worse than the original transmission fluid.
One thing that I could use is the diameter (or circumference) of the 12" Harbor Freight trailer tires.

update: PDX_Racer takes off this weekend to make the long drive to Topeka Kansas
, and I fly out on Tuesday...can't wait!
We'll be driving PDX_Racer's BS 350Z at the SCCA Nationals...I'm hoping for a 1st for PDX_Racer w/ me at a close 2nd
(I'm excited just to be able to drive with PDX_Racer and to get the experience from being next to him as a driver and to be at that kind of venue)

^ Hey! Maybe if you and/or PDX_Racer make it onto the podium you could plug the my350z NW forum?
Make sure to post what's happening there on the forum, we'll all be rooting for ya!

PDX_Racer, First350,
To you and the other Z's in B Stock: Best of luck to you tommorrow and Friday! We're all rooting for you guys.
I saw that the weather report will be warm and dry at least until Saturday. Hope you guys bring back some National bling.
Good luck guys!

Day 1 is complete, results are up. Looks like PDX_Racer still has a chance for a trophy.

They ran the East course yesterday, they'll be running the West course today. Hopefully it's more open than the East course and that they can take the fight to the RX-8's.

Day 2 is complete, the cumulative results of Day 1 & 2 are up. CONGRATS to PDX_Racer for placing 10th out of 41 which is good enough for a National's Trophy!
Props and respect to First350 for making it out to Nationals and in his Rookie year too!

That's some pretty hot driving there. Not only a trophy but the fastest Solo 350Z Stock driver in the Nation (North America?) for 2007 and the only Z to trophy. PDX_Racer; you should start hitting up Nissan for sponsorship, not just that contingency stuff.
Those RX-8's were too quick this year, probably a tighter course than previous year. 6 Nissan 350Z's, 2 Porsche 944S, 1 BMW Z3 Coupe and 32 Mazda RX-8's! I guess if you weren't driving an RX-8, you didn't get much love this year.

Well, I have to hang my head a bit here (and be thankful I still have an engine!).
Day 1, third run, I went for third for the finish and got first instead. Two seconds of deceleration when everyone else is accelerating.
That would have been the 43.3 that I was looking for -- instead I ended up with a 44.7.
It wouldn't have been enough to keep Jason out of first overall, but it would have been enough for a top-five.
My own fault, you don't win championships when you make mistakes.

Oh, and let me say that first350 is an AWESOME co-driver! I wish that he was more used to my car -- mine is a bit more forgiving at the limit than his, and that fact does take some getting used to.
I'd have him again as a co-driver in a HEARTBEAT, only I'd make sure that he had more experience in the car so that he could trophy as well.

...I too agree that if we do this next year at Nationails, I'd hope to get some more seat time in your Z; I had never autoX'd my Z in stock form, and didn't realize how differently it'd handle...I don't think I got in 'competetive' slalom out of all 6 runs I madeIn all, I was glad I went to get the general jist of the format and how things felt there...it's sooooo different from the normal WW autoX events I've been to. I'm already talking to my wife about going next yr...the biggest hurdle will be getting time off work.
here's a few pics from the nationals...I planned on taking more, but didn't have as much time as I thought I would:
