Default The 2007 Northwest Racing season

I thought I’d start a thread so that we can follow the various series that our local Z/G guys will be running in this year in the Pacific NW. Whether its autocross, time trials, club racing, etc. (let’s keep it to sanctioned bodies of racing); I’m sure there’s a lot of us that want to know what series other Z/G driver are racing in, how they’re doing, what events are going on locally and what they’re doing to their Z’s. Someone much more insightful than me once said, “Racing improves the breed.”, that couldn’t be more true in describing the history of the Z car.

For those of you that followed the 2006 SCCA Autocross Nationals; Carter Thompson took 2nd place in B Stock. It’s encouraging to know that the potential is there for a Z to be the class champion this season. There are a few Z car drivers that I know will be competing in autocross this year:
- First350 in the WWSCC Championship Series (Improved A class)
- PDX_Racer in the SCCA Championship Series (B Stock class)

In addition, I believe Dkorr will be venturing into his rookie season in the WWSCC series (Stock A or ST1). Guys, please correct me if I’m wrong w/ any of the information above and/or add more info if you’re planning on competing in any other series.

For those of us competing w/ your Z/G in other racing series in the region or traveling to do racing else where in you car; please post what you’re doing and keep us updated on how your season is going. Here’s your chance to talk about what you’re doing. If there’s anyone w/ questions about racing, here’s the opportunity to ask it from the guys that are doing it.

For those of us not racing this season, let’s root on our guys that are stepping up to represent. When the season is over we’ll have to get together to talk about how successful this year was. Best of luck guys!

2007 is likely going to be a more "local" season for me -- no "traveling" National Tours (only Packwood NT and Pro). I'm probably not even going to be making the trip to Topeka this year (trying to save for a house).

hope fully next year I'll see you in Topeka ...I'm hoping that by then I'll have enough experience...but that's probably just wishful thinking

Well... I've made my decision about Time Trials. After assessing the cost of the events, mods to the Z and figuring about 2 sets of competition tires for the year and w/ my newly 'adjusted' finances; it doesn't look like it'll be a possibility this year. I think if I decide to go that route, I'll need to plan a year ahead of time. I was hoping that there would be at least one event on a weekday, but it looks like all the competative events will be during the weekends this year. And all at Bremerton too. Didn't they have a couple at Pac. Raceways in 2006 and 2005?

If anyone in the NW forum will be running in Time Trials this year, please let us know.

Well, I may see you at a few WW events, although I'm going to be really busy this summer and will be spending more time at NWR-SCCA events.

If it doesnt rain tommorow I will be out at GG and would be happy to have you look at the car. We race in Touring 2. Real quick run down on mods, engine Blueprinted/Balanced, 2004 motor with 2006 cams, plenum, ARP rod bolts and TS ECU. Revs to 7800rpm on 100 octane fuel. Suspension has T2 Nissan Motorsports suspension kit and JRZ shocks. Kazz limited slip. There is a bunch of other stuff as well...

Hopefully see you tommorow (Pray for it to be Dry!!)

Formula D FTW! I went last year and it was cool being able to go through the pit area and get up and pretty much touch all the cars, meet the drivers. Plus getting caught up in that frenzy at the Cooper Tires area where they were toss'n out hats & other useless cr@p was halarious.

I got thinking about Forumla D again. Looks like it'll be back at Monroe on Saturday, July 14th.

Plenty of time to make plans and to clear the calendar for that date. No WWSCC event that weekend but there will be a SCCA Prosolo event that day. PDX_Racer, are you planning to do any Prosolo events this year?

I was very upset I couldnt make it. I just bought Tabs for my car this week, went to put them on and couldnt find them anywhere in the house. Looked everywhere I thought they could be, no luck. Late Sunday afternoon my 4 year old son threw a tantrum and decided to pour out the entire contents of this night stand and dirty laundy. After he calmed down and was picking things up, low and behold I see a green piece of paper....He had them the whole time (how he got them I dont know, was on top of a dresser twice as tall as him..). Anyway, happy that I found them and didnt have to go back to the licensing agency, but very unhappy I could go to the show.
