you thinking of running in IA or 'no time' ? You normally run BS in SCCA events (IA for WW)...it'd make me look really bad if you beat my times . But it'd be great to see another well driven Z out there - I'm always in need of pointers and would hope to pick up some useful stuff from you.

PDX_Racer, why TOPM and not SA for the AM at this weekend's event? If only for the purpose of scoring another win for the Z?

It's alright,... you drive a Nissan now. If you were still in one of your Hondas that'd be cause for alarm.

This Sunday lemme show you something that you can do to help you rest a little easier.

Well... not the greatest day for the Z, there was one win though, Antione Zalzal took Nov PM (the top time of a 240SX was DQ-ed after a error in recording was found). But a good turnout none-the less.

I found that a lot of the potential for the Z was compromised due to all the heavy breaking zones (7 by my count). I tried driving it w/ more momentum instead of breaking as much on my last run but the tires were overheated and I washed out A LOT in some corners. I went for a ride w/ a STi buddy of mine after my runs and found that his breaking (due to the big brakes) was much deeper and faster than I could have done on the non-Brembo brakes. Running square didn't help the situation either. Not the greatest of courses, but it did bring another potential weakness of the Z to the surface. That in itself is a good thing.

the course had tons of corners...it was a really well designed 55s course for such a small lot size. After my runs I got a ride w/ PDX_racer...he was turning down the same times as me (I run BSP, he's in BS...and was on his smaller tires too ), it was really eye opening to see how much he tosses the Z around (it was similar to my experience riding w/ drivesolo last month)...I didn't realize how much I had been leaving open on the course. Thanks for the ride PDX_Racer!

You're more than welcome!

Sweeper-type, momentum courses are really tough in the Z, since it emphasizes the Z's main weakness (weight) and has nothing for its strengths (transitions, acceleration). Wider tires help in all areas -- which is one reason why I'm watching first350's tire situation with the Hankooks, and why I've got a set of V710-285/30s mounted on my OTHER set of wheels.

On Saturday while I was scrubbing the new 285s in, I have to admit that I was giggling because there was SOOOOOOOOO much grip! However, it does cost to play in that realm -- the tires are more expensive, and the mounting is too (both in time and money). I know of only a few places that are capable of mounting the 285s on the front 8-inch rims (and no, after they've fully seated, they don't look quite as unhappy). If you decide to try them (285s on stock track rims), make sure that your tire mounter is kept very happy!!!

Hey... the results from the event were up this morning but seem to have been taken down.

PDX_Racer, any chance that while it's down the NOV PM can be corrected to properly place the mistaken top time (1989 240SX). He had a mechanical issue while on course, skipping the whole top portion of the course and made a bee-line for the exit, should have been a DNF. Normally I wouldn't care, but it just looks better to have a Z sitting in the #1 spot in-lieu-of an error.

I was so amazed at how the Viper and Lotus ate up the course. They made the whole thing look so effortless.

Keep in mind who the drivers of those cars were; Stacey Molleker in the Viper and Mark Snell (AKA: Lateapex) in the Exige. Both are SCCA autoX National Champions, and Mark has been racing longer than you've been alive.

There were taken down to re-audit results, and should be back up shortly.

Also, they are both masters of car setup, so you can bet that they have notebooks of data including multiple suspension and tire pressure settings. (I know that I'm working on recording information about the event after each event)

Sat: I got 2nd to the viper...this was the closest I've been to him, only 1.9s difference .
Sun: I beat out an S2000 by only 0.1s to get first ...it's usually the other way around, so I was very excited about this!

conditions, Sat was dry but cold, Sun started out 80% wet and our last run was about 20% wet, so times were dropping about 1s every run.

both days I used Drivesolo's tire warmers...it helped out a lot!

So Gentlemen, aside from all the chit-chat lately about who's car is the pretties on another thread on this forum,... what racing activities do we have planned for the month of July?

First350 and I will be doing a track day at PR, hopefully Rahtok and others can join us. I believe that there's no WWSCC events until August but there are a few SCCA and other regional autoX's as well as a regional ProSolo events in Packwood.
