I'm surprised the state would be using non-domestic cars. Although, I wouldn't be surprised if the police on Bainbridge Island drove Volvos.

Had to go to my Subie buddy for this but, if this doesn't convince you, there's nothing I else I can do:

The Legacy belongs to the Kitsap Co. Sheriff's Dept. They probably got it because of the all-wheel drive. They also are changing from the green cars to black & whites and maybe haven't painted the doors white yet.??
lol alright. I believe
sadly that yahoo new link is expired, but it would appeare that its for real, although the blue and red puddle lights are teh lame. I would NOT pull over for it immediately, I would have to think about it

i dont really care what u think...what ever i said about the z + all earlier were true, u can take it leave it at that. also be careful when in vancouver, b.c. because cops up there drive imports (like civics and what not...mostly newer cars though...)...i know this because i used to live there and am in vancouver biweekly.
btw, if i were tryn to bull****... i would have said it was an rsx.
well...here is some sort of proof...in a sense i guess.
does anyone here ever go to the seized cars/police auctions? has anyone noticed that there are way less "nice" cars as before?
i used to go to alot of these (in washington and vancouver) and started seeing less cars...wouldnt it make sense if they started reusing more of these cars and incorporating them as unmarked vehicles? just saying...
for all you philosophy people...heres that in argument form:
1. There are less and less "nice" cars available at seized car auctions.
2. There has been an increase in the number of unmarked/undercover police vehicles recently.
3. The best explanation is that the police have started buying/keeping the seized vehicles.
------------------------------------------
.: The police have started reusing these cars as unmarked police vehicles.
^
(that means "therefore")
anyone wanna make a counter argument?

Yeah I would like to argue. If there were more unmarked police cars I would get pulled over more. If there were more "nice imports" being bought up by the cops then you would see more of them giving my *** tickets. Second of all you need to take a basic level math class cause your argument is illogical, the reason there are less 'nice' cars at police auction could be an economical one, it could be purely coincidental, or any number of other things. Theres your argument. And I don't want to start flame war, but I still think you're wrong about the 350Z Cop car. There is a reason (or several) that cops drive domestics.
As for the Canada argument, I don't doubt that they use imports in Canada, they have no national car manufacturers so they have no choice and if you think about it, imports are better in a lot of ways. I'm not saying you're wrong, I'm saying you're mistaken. I mean a friend and I had a huge argument, very similar to this one, and it turned out he had seen a cop, in uniform in an RAV4 with a bunch of antennae on in. Turns out, the guy was just a cop that was offduty who had police radios installed in his personal vehicle. The car was not a patrol car, and the cop could take no action while off duty in it. Yours may be a similar case. The Subaru very interesting tho...

The first point...well, its meant to be a "philosophical" argument...but u kinda get the idea with ur objections (not "basic math" either...wouldn't it be logistics?). i hav to agree, it could just purely be economics...but that wouldnt exactly explain much. what i was trying to say is that usually there are a lot of civics, toyotas, volkswagons, caddy, mustangs etc...but now there are fewer (and the amount of domestic cars have remained relatively the same...i also explicitly said '"nice" cars' and not 'nice imports' for a reason). it is plausable that the police have started buying/reusing them (if i were them, thats what i would do) or maybe just purely a coincidence and has nothing to do with any of our reasons. who knows!?! the same could be said about not getting a ticket, could just be that u were lucky or at the right place at the right time (i.e. no cops).
Well, with ur second point, i think i agree with that. makes sense (tho he didnt hav ne antennas) but he may hav been off duty. but u never kno what the cops will be up to next...maybe because people are gettn used to domestics, they hav or may decide to start including imports in their police force.
in any case, its better to be safe than sorry...
btw, im not tryn to start a flame war either...but if u or neone's gonna hit me like that with the "Cablazn is either lousy at lying, got onto this forum w/out getting his parent's permission and/or just needs more attention than anyone is willingly want to give him" stuff, i m not gonna back down period. (flame wars are stupid) but anyways, we gotta agree to disagree (in this case i ended up agreeing with some of ur points...)

From Local Washington Newspaper about a year? or two? ago...
'...Washington State Police will begin using an unmarked police 18-wheeler truck and a spotter helicopter in an effort to ticket motorists on the I-5 freeway. The idea is to follow the model of the "Click it or Ticket" campaign and issue as many tickets as possible to "aggressive" drivers in "smaller vehicles."'

also, apparently washington state is considered one of the nations "testing grounds" for new ways to stop reckless driving...i remember reading somewhere that washingston was one of the most successful states in reducing traffic fatalities, accidents, recklessness, etc. especially in employing undercover vehicles. in general, they also look for cars commiting multiple infractions (rather than just speeding...). i will try and find a link or article or something if i get time.

Investigation of the nature, causes, or principles of reality, knowledge, or values, based on logical reasoning rather than empirical methods. So whats the difference to the counter-argument I made?

Not trying to bust *****, but to be fair your side is lacking a lot of foundation (though it is a much harder side to argue as you would have to research heavily for concrete, applicable facts).
EDIT: I mean no offence cablazn.

yea, i figured my side would be harder to "argue"...but it is beginning to seem like cops are really cracking down.
also, "Philosophy" is the search for deeper understanding of concepts we usually take for granted (i.e. knowledge, God, right/wrong, etc...). HOWEVER, it CAN include empirical methods...there are several areas of philosophy, and different types...two of them are empiricists and rationalists. next time use a more credible source too..."Answers.com", "WikiPedia" dont cut it in college (not considered credible...though they r helpful in many respects). << from "Philosophy: 3rd Edition" by Theodore Schick, JR. and Lewis Vaughn
i was giving an example of the "typical" cars i used to see at the auctions...i mean come on, i didn't say they were imports, i said they were nice cars that i started seeing less of (i admit, i got a bit vague when i typed that up).
nice work nonetheless...though i am getting confused because some points are being taken out of context (i had to even look back at what you were referring to)...be careful with that.
i also do have a decent idea of what i am talking about (but no "internet evidence" if thats what u want nor the time to actually do the research). but i like hearing ur counter arguments, and then trying to defend mine...its good practice!
u really didnt hav to go through all that for me
im lovin this though...its kinda fun...as long as we dont start flamin (in which case this would go pretty overboard...).
i also hav to admit the section where i mentioned my friend (despite being a true story) probably f***ed me over and skewed the sight.
also, as a side note, i didnt say u specifically, as i recall i said "u OR NEONE ELSE"...so i am not blaming...we are cool with that.
EDIT: none taken...at first it seemed kinda cruel...but in some respects i brought it on myself i guess. dont wrry about it tho...

lawl, all good points.
I would however like to argue that wikipedia, etc. are perfectly acceptable in college. I have been able to convince two of my teachers, the only ones that ever quibbled over the use of wikipedia, that it is at least as credible a resource as most encyclopedias.
Second of all, in this case we're talking about a generally accepted definition so challenging the credibility of my source is pretty pointless.
Seriously tho, good argument and I'm glad nobody's feelings got hurt in this.
I'm going to bed

whoa nice! i havnt tried to pull that off before! i think they are also great sources... i was just pointing out that philosophy can be empirical (in general the two definitions are alike except for that point)...then again, some areas can be debated in the definition. meh...
it seems that others hav had run-ins or experiences with imports as cops (some actually in the states!)...hmm...that other thread u started is gettn interesting...(an evo? a lexus?...i wouldnt be suprised if that "cop" i saw may have been one? maybe someone else has seen him...)

cablazn, are you coming on the drive to Rosyln?
Yeah, I basically pulled the Wikipedia is a credible resource to me,credibility is subjective, therefore since I accurately list all my sources (including wikipedia), others have the ability to evaluate the credibility for themselves. There is no way to prove that my work is not valid, if they were as smart as they claim (be it verbally or by reading my paper) (the prof or the target audience or both), they would not make sweeping generalizations about wikipedia, they would get on there and look up the information and sources provided. I more often use (the very handy) citations from within wikipedia with regard to the information I use, because after all they require sources in their articles. I've often found that it is extreme conservatives that have trouble with wikipedia, and extreme christians (no offense to anyone)
The biggest problem I face in college is motivation; I have to be motivated enough to press a prof or lecturer because theya re so used to just firing off generic responses, I like to challenge them.
