Anyone have stock brakes laying around?
I need the two long screws that connect the top part of the brake assembly (the part you remove to change the pads) to the bottom part. I was hoping someone has their old brakes laying around and wouldn't mind parting with the screws. (= It's the front stock brakes (non-Brembo).
Now, why would I need these screws, you ask? Well, apparently when I took my car to the shop to have them install my spacers a few months ago, they either didn't put the screws back in the front passenger brakes, or didn't tighten them down. (I admit that it's also possible someone loosened/stole the screws, but I find that highly unlikely. (= )
As I was driving home today, suddenly I kept hearing this clank when driving over bumps in the road. I checked the car twice trying to figure out what it was, but couldn't see anything (it was getting dark). I figured something was wonky with my shocks. So I avoided the freeway, took the long *** way home and avoided bumps in the road as best as I could.
But when I got home and got a flashlight in there, the top part of the brake assembly was still on the pads, but not where it should have been, and sans screws. I think it was jumping a bit when I hit bumps and hitting the inside of my rim. If that was the case (which is likely), there's remarkably little scratching.
So... let me know if you're willing to donate two screws to the Fix ScrObot's Brakes Foundation. (=
