The Northwest VQ Challenge
Gentlemen,
This is something we’ve talked about on some old threads but never got around to taking any action on. I figure it’s worth a shot to see if the idea is still alive.
On October 7th the Western Washington Sports Car Council (WWSCC) will be holding their autocross event for the year; Sports Car Spectacular (SCS). It is also the last autocross event of the WWSCC Championship series and one of the last opportunities for autocrossing this year. Traditionally SCS tends to be a more open autoX course that favors the more powerful cars like the Z/G rather than smaller narrow cars like the Miata.
Here is the proposition; we use this event to see where each of us “rank” in our VQ community when it comes to autoX. Not just the car, not just driver, but the complete driver and car package. This wouldn’t be a competition since it would be very difficult to come up w/ a fair indexing system to account for all the variations that we have here. Instead this would be a way to see how we compare to each other given our own car setups and personal skills. But friendly competition is ofcourse encouraged.
Regardless of setup, skill, experience or class all you have to do is bring your best game to this competition to see where we rank. Your thoughts?

^ Lol. I'll be most likely running bone stock on the OEM tires. But if we do this it will be good for getting good baselines by comparision. My guess is no one can get better times than you.... that is... until I finish my BSP build.

FTW (for meI assume you'll be comnig out? Last time I saw you at an autoX, I was working the course when you were running...I loved the sound of the SC back then - and the new SC sounds even better!
Let's see what interest we get from the local community. It maybe that only 3 or 4 of us have an interest in a challenge like this. It would be good if we could have more, but if not then maybe a BEAC practice day would a better option.

^ Nah, that won't be necessary. We should all run what we have at our disposal. Thanks anways.
I'm thinking this shouldn't necessarily be a competion, the vast majority of VQ-drivers on this forum aren't tuned for racing. I'm guessing this would be good for all of us to do something as a Z/G function. This would also be a good intro for of guys out there that would like to try out some amature racing in their Z's/G's. Not to neccessarily be the best, just some fun and an experience to reflect upon late on.

I think a BEAC practice might not be a bad idea. The only problem is that we are limited on how many people we can get into a practice. Currently only First350 and myself are BEAC members, which means it would limit particpation to only 4 people. Let's see how much interest we have and maybe we can get another 2 guys in at a practice. But if it'll be more then we'll need to consider a competative event.

Alright, let's see who's interested in this. The date isn't set yet, if we plan to do a BEAC practice we'll have a bit more flexibility. but if we choose to get together at an autoX event then we'll have to define it a few weeks in advance so we can all schedule the time to go.
