Default All weather tire suggestions?

I am looking to get new tires but there are so many options that I am not sure what to get. Stock tires really sucked in the rain. I autoXed on them once and that was really an uncomfortable feeling. So something with good traction in the wet and decent in the dry is what I am looking for.

Thanks for the help.

I thought the "W" stood for winter? making it a summer and winter tire? Or is it just designated that , but sucks ***** in the winter anyways?

Don't try drifting on an onramp in the rain and you'll be fine.

"W" also stands for a speed rating of 168 mph.

I can't really say what is good in snow, but if you're just concerned about dry & wet weather, a few options come to mind, all better giving performacne than the OEM tires, except will wear faster (lower tread wear ratings):

- Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3: very good in rain & in the dry, a little squirmy at full tread depth, but only experienced it during autoX
- Falken Ziex ZE-512: very good in the rain, okay in the dry, supposedly usable in light snow (never tried), very good wet weather autoX tire IMO.
- Falken Fk-542: good in the rain, good in the dry, got 'em on right now, haven't tested them at the limit yet, but they feel promising so far.

I've had the old Toyo T1-R's (discontinued) but would not recommend them. The side wall was too soft for the weight of a car like the Z. Decent grip though, but IMO I wouldn't recommend the T1-R's if you're looking to do autoX or track w/ the Z.

I'm currently running the Falken FK-452 like "drivesolo" and love them. I daily drive my car rain, snow(try to stay home but I have driven in bad weather), and shine.

I just got a set of Falken Ziex ZE-912's and I love them. They're a replacement for the 512's, and are said to perform much better. Can't say from personal experience, but I can say they're a huge improvement over the Cooper Zeon Sport A/S tires I was rolling on.

I'm on my second (third, if you count the SpecV) set of Kumho ASXs. They've done fairly well for me -- except when I've tried to use them at autocross events against V710s...

no, the "W" stands for "killer dry/wet" performance, as opposed in the KD which is strictly a dry weather tire. That still doesn't mean its very good in the rain, and certainly isn't a winter tire, it should not be used in the snow at all unless you have a death wish

The Kumho ASX seems to be getting good reviews from people here.
