Next SCCA events are in 1.5 weeks!!!

April 19th (Sat) - Prosolo (drag race start, then autoX)
April 20th (Sun) - Solo (normal autoX)

*link to a ProSolo vid: http://youtube.com/watch?v=u7V5_EyeWrM

They're both down in Packwood...it's a bit of a drive, but at least some of the roads are fun!

Who's going??

Packwood is near Mt. Saint Helens...

the basic schedule for ProSolo is most likley to be something like:
7:30-8:30 registration and Tech
8:45 - Driver's meeting
9-9:30 1st car on course
ends around 5pm-ish
*this will be my 1st time going to a ProSolo...the format is different than normal AutoXs, so I don't know exactly how it's gonna be. Maybe PDX_Racer can chime in

I'm going to the event on Sunday too.

I usually show up around 6:30-7am for events b/c I have to prep the car (Change tires, set tire pressures, walk the course,...), since I'm towing my tire trailer, I'll likely leave around 4am --> so getting the hotel on Saturday night prevents me from doing this 2 times!

OK, the basic competition format for a National ProSolo is:

* Run Saturday morning in car number order -- four runs, alternating left and right (or right and left) and then you're done.
* Run Saturday afternoon in position order (1st vs. 2nd, 3rd vs. 4th, etc)
* Run Sunday morning in position order
* Your fastest time from the left course and fastest run from the right course are combined.
* Sunday afternoon is challenge rounds (1st in classes, anyone else within a certain percentage of the first place time are in super challenge, there's also a ladies super challenge, and a bonus challenge). Runs are handicapped ("dial-in"), with the intention that you both cross the finish line at the same time. If you run faster than your "dial-in," then your new "dial-in" will be 50%(?) more of the difference, e.g. if your dial-in was 30 seconds and you ran 29 seconds, then your new dial-in will be 28.5 (IIRC the percentages). It gets more interesting when you have a slower car class compete against a fast car class -- the slower car gets a SIGNIFICANT head start over the faster car.

For the regional ProSolo the numbers are smaller, so IIRC we still have at least two rounds + the challenge rounds. It's just that everything has to fit into a single day.

PDX_Racer was talking about the National ProSolo Tour...this next weekend is the Regional ProSolo (it's a bit confusing, but basically this one if a 1 day event and the National ProSolo Tour is a 2 day event).

From looking at last years data, it looked like everyone got 8 runs, plus any extra runs from the eliminations runs. The # of runs will depend on how many people show up...more ppl, less runs.

Sorry, each "run group" at a ProSolo is 4 runs -- two runs on each course.

So, if we have two "run groups", you'll have 4 runs on each course -- 8 runs total. Plus, if you make the challenge rounds, you'll have two runs for each round (one on each side).

Once you see the Packwood site, you'll be saying, "how many times are there events there?"

Just for comparison, the entire Everett area -- course AND paddock -- would fit INSIDE the course area at Packwood!
