Just got a membership at LA Fitness. I like the indoor pools, nice basketball courts (but bring your own ball), and the equipment. Don't like the layout in general. It feels like everyone is lined up to show off to those walking in. Maybe it's just this location, but it feels strange. The overall is good, though, and I run into other people I know all the time which is cool.

I work out at the Y. not sure how you like it but they have everything I need. A bball court for warming up and then free weights and machines for lifting. Just have to avoid peak times cause then it gets really annoying

for real man, I hate bally's now. I am trying to get out of the contract. There are a few things I hate about bally's.

1. The trainers there cater more to females. Me and my girl used to go there all the time and I see it man.

2. I was told during out preview that i could use the punching bag in the cage at my own discretion. So a week after I signed up I go to use the bag and a trainer tells me I have to get off of the bag unless I am there with a trainer. I know people who break their hands on bags, but I've boxed for a while I know how to use it correctly.

3. The gym gets way too crowded for my liking.

4. Me and my girl were doing the cycling class for a while...tell me why we had a fat chick tellin us how we should do a spinning class? if you aren't a figure of we are trying to be, I don't want you to lead me biotch! LOL!

5. One of the two bally's we go to doesn't have the smoothie bar. WTF is that about? The first I've ever known to not have one.

6. The one bally's that does have smoothies is full of (Im not racist, I'm black and cuban) mexican's that constantly try to holler at my girl every time I turn my back, so i gotta give em "the people's eye" or drop kick em!

So man, does anyone have any tips or tricks on how I could get out of that forsaken contract?

I've been working out at 24 hour Fitness for 7 years now. Generally your going to find more than most gyms. Swimming pools, hot tubs, saunas, Full size basketball courts and of course pretty much all the lifting and aerobic equipment you need. Not all the gyms have all of the above items, but many of them do. There are also a lot more of them around where I live. I only know of 1 ballys and 4 24 hour fitnesses in a 15 mile radius of me.

I have been going to 24 hour for 7 years. I like the various locations and being open all hours. I don't like that only some of them have sports courts and some locations could really use a overhaul, mainly Shoreline.
