well, I think someone is trying to play me. I bought a set of coilovers from a member on these forums, and he said they were dirty, so I took him at his word since he had a good I-trader rating. When I received them, ernie and I tried to install them, even though they were very rusted. Come to find out, they are missing pieces as well. I sent the guy a PM, he has logged on since, but didn't answer it. Also, I have tried calling him multiple times as well to try to get this resolved. here is the PM that I sent him
My question is in regards to paypal. I paid him using paypal, and have never had an issue before. I wanted to know if it would be worth it to try and get this resolved through them, or wait on a call or PM back...I just want my money back for getting a bad product that was inaccurately described.

Earlier when we were talking you said that the coilovers were just dirty, and the only thing wrong with them is that the dampening controler on one coilover was broken, and that you didn't have the adjuster wrenches. When I received the coilovers, I found out that they weren't dirty, infact they were rusted, and that is why the rear springs were repainted. Also, they are missing more parts than you said they were. They are missing 1 of the spring seats, 2 nuts for the rear, 2 nuts for the front, and the thing for the brake lines. The bolts for the rear spring mounting plate are so rusted, the nuts won't even move to try to install them. I am writing this PM to you, to see what you are willing to do, as I can't even install these things with what I was supplied, and I doubt they work properly with all the rust that is on them. PM me or give me a call at 425-753-7472. Thanks, Drew

This happened to me on those sides and rear I went to a claim and paypal dropped it. This isn't a paypal safe site. If the guy has a history of this you might get lucky. I hope they treat you better than me. I hope the guy will just man up and fix the problem!!! I hate people like that trying to sell you ****.

well, I got a response today...
hey i've been in japan and still here sorry for the late reply, but as the coilovers sit i used the stock bolts that were on my 350z and i put my stock struts back on and used the nuts the jic's never came with bolts. as i stated the coilovers need some tlc and are dirty and everything on the coils worked fine and they do. i gave you pictures of everything. and with most coilovers, they never come with the brake line nut and bolt ask people on the forum. i have tien cs's that i had to zip tie my brake line on. and as all the parts go they are fine compress the strut they are not blown i sold you 1700.00 coilovers for dirt cheap and in working condition and paid shipping. as i stated in my ad sold as is and need tlc and i told you that they arent the best looking but everything works fine.

correct me if I am wrong, but i thought rust didn't constitute "dirty" These are rusted all the way through as Ernie and whom ever else saw them can attest to. In the pics posted on his add, you can't tell. When you get them you can tell though.
Here is my response:
how does TLC get rid of rust though? You also knew that they were rusty, not just dirty, because you painted the springs that were completely rusted. The paint won't even stick to the rust that is on them...I would be willing to send the coilovers back to you at my expense for the inconvenience, but I can't use these coilovers. They are just too rusted out.
I think that is more than fair.

also, if you notice, it didn't used to say that they were sold as-is. He edited his post today to say that.

Spray a gallon of WD 40 on that ****, buy some 8 dollar bolts from napa, I'll throw in some black zip ties and you can rock those things, as for the rusty springs? I'd see if the dude can send you a slight refund so you can get some new ones from JIC... thats just wrong!
its sad to see a member getting ripped off.. but at that price... its kinda risky.. my mom always tells me "you get what you pay for"..
i hope everything works out in your favor...
