I've got a V1 from the version back in '03. Paid for itself the first 2 months and has been paying dividens ever since. I had a chance to compare it to frist350's Passport for a couple of days. Although I'm completely happy w/ the V1 the 9500i is the superior one IMO. Picks up signals slightly quicker and from a fruther distance than the V1, although I did not have any encounters w/ laser when I had both mounted. Could also be that my V1 is outdated and the newer ones might be more capable. The one thing I can say about the V1 is the metal case is tough. If you move your radar detector around from car-to-car it'll take the constant handling and that rare occasion you drop it on a concrete floor.

Very interesting stuff. I'm still really curious as to how the 9500i behaves with regards to its TrueLock feature.

-I've gotten radar hits from different bands in a location where i have a stored/blocked signal...I don't recall if the stored band and the announced band was the same...
-I've gotten radar hits from the same speed indicator (those units on the side of the street) even after I've stored the signal...I often have to save certain locations/bands a few times b/c of the differences (weather I'm traveling towards/away, if there's other cars around...all of those would slightly change the frequency...which would lead me to believe it does a fairly good job at not blocking out all signals for a specific signal/location block.)

I'm happy w/ my purchase and would do it again.

**only downside is the mount...it works great for the first 6 months, then the suction cups start to suck (or not suck) - but I drive 3 different cars every week, so I'm moving this thing around a lot.
