So, I was wondering if any of you guys knew of any places that are hiring. I just got lay'd off today from Mccann Motors.. really frickin sucks.
but yeah, just wondering if anyone knows of any openings anywhere.. doesn't have to be auto related. i'd like it to be though..
thanks

Once Boeing's machinist strike ends (hopefully sooner than later), Boeing will be hiring for both office and production assembly jobs. So far no orders have been cancelled due to the economy so the output from the work stoppage due to the strike will have to be compensated for (in Boeing's case it usually means hiring more people).

I guess McNerney is doing exactly what your company hired him for, to not give into these unions.
the longest boeing strike was like 2 months wasn't it? its already been a while here, might set a new record. they went into talks the other day but that flopped horribly and there are no plans for when they will hold their next talks.
plenty of family members and friends work for them, it's a bummer to see them sitting around without pay.

I think the longest machinist strike was 68 days. I think they're at 49 now(?). Yeah, this has the potential to be a record breaker. Talks broke down earlier this week and looks like another week atleast before they get back to the table. I hope some agreement can be reach since both sides are hurting bad. If the machinists can hold out until 90 days then Boeing will not allow it to continue much further than that or may not even allow it to get to that point.
I guess it's also worth mentioning to the O.P. that most likely the jobs that they will be hiring for could be relatively short (most likely less than 2 years before Boeing has it's next big round of layoff). But nothing would prevent you from finding a more permanent job if you do get in.

the strike is hurting aerospace pretty bad. I work for primus international a supplier for boeing we have layed off like 35 and put another 25 on 0 hours. It's bad they need to get talking again soon I am on 32 hour work weeks right know.
I am looking for part time myself till this is over I need my play money! Best of luck on your job hunt!

well, Hyundai of Everett is going to be hiring for an internet manager soon...I think I found my new job. Sent in resume, talked to the person in charge, and everything looks good to go.
