If you're who I think you are, you got a APS Tuner Kit and we did an Xtreme kit... Or are you saying you got your Tuner Kit and installed for $6k? Wait, weren't you the guy who wanted the TT kit installed at the same time we were already committed to another customer?

Actually, as I recalled, you said World One would install it for you for $2k and I said $3k is what we charged, and we take a full 2 weeks (we do things by the numbers, slowly) to finish the swap. Not sure how we were $3k more expensive, even if we included tuning on our in house dyno...

Curious...

nope, I was the guy that called and you quoted me almost retail for all the parts and labor. You also wouldn't negotiate with me even though I was prepared to spend 10-15k. Afterwards you even talked to another member on these forums making fun of me because I wanted to negotiate with you. In my opinion that is just bad business. I should not have to hear from other people that you like to make fun of potential customers for trying to get pricing on parts at a more competetive price. Never really mentioned this on the forums before because I wanted to give you the benefit of the doubt, and I like it that you do dyno days for us. Unfortunately, I am in a bad mood today, and so I decided to post it anyway.

everyone's the same way man. when you're dropping that kind of dough you need to know that you're doing it at the right shop, and getting the right price. I go to the same shop for everything because they make things right and hook me up when they can.

I see. My apologies if you feel slighted. Looking at it from our perspective, we get people coming in every day telling us about their multi digit dollar builds, and until I see that you're serious, I'll come out with a hardcopy quote. It's been our experience that people calling around on the phones for quotes will always be fishing for the best possible deals and if that was the case, especially when you haven't been familiar with us or our work or you for that matter, then I will quote you retail prices. After all, why bother to give your best deal when you'll probably take it to one of our other peers and say "DO can do it for this price... what can you do for me?" and pit them against us. You did this as a matter of fact. That to me, is bad for business.

I'm not here for that. I know what our time is worth, and what it's going to be if we do this. If I end up losing the sale, then that's how it will be but we're not going to sell ourselves short on a build like this.

When these kits are are flown in from Australia and you know very well how heavy and costly they are to ship, what's left on the table isn't very much (importation and sales tax) and we're not allowed to make anything on them? As for the labor, I have and will spend 2 weeks on each swap. That's 2 people on it for 2 weeks @ $43 an hour between the two, but how does that becomes $3K more?

I'm not here to argue how my business is run since our work here and elsewhere speaks for itself. I'm just curious as to how you got to $3k more when comparing the builds and I don't think we never got to discussing engine management...

But we're headed off topic... Check PM!

Regards!

That's pretty much what I told Drew. I figured it was whoever was on the phone just thought it was another kid on the phone wasting everyone's time. There are so tire kickers out there that are full of shit, so that happens pretty often, in my experience. Seems like it would make sense to actually visit a shop so you can meet the people in person, check out the facility, and talk business face-to-face...especially when talking about an expensive project, not just something simple like a couple random parts.

+1 on that. I strongly agree that "face-to-face quote" would always be better and more cost effective than the regular phone call. Unfortunately, this is how serious people, our days, take phone calls. Besides, that Bob's shop will be the first place TO GO in person when i have saved enough money to get my TT installed, + he has great relationship with GTM.
