Default Help raise money for cancer research and the Relay for Life charity

My friend, Steve, has signed up to participate in the "Relay for Life" fundraiser for the American Cancer Society. This is his second year participating with his family in Anacortes and I told him I'd post this up online to help him drum up donations. He has a personal donations page that I've highlighted in bold below as well as a team donations page that I've also linked to. Donations can be done anonymously if you wish and online donations can be as low as $5.

If anyone would like to help out and donate, just click and make a contribution. You don't have to be from the NW area to make a donation. For people that don't like doing such things online, you can print out a donation form and send him a check. I'll also be taking donations in his name at Golden Gardens.

This year, hundreds of thousands of people will hear the words "You have cancer", and there's a good chance that some of them will be people we know and love. We have all been touched by cancer in some way ... and we all have the power to make a difference. That's why I have chosen to fight back right here in my own community by participating in the American Cancer Society Relay For LifeŽ.

I want to invite you to join me in the fight against cancer by making a donation in support of my efforts. Further down in this message is a link to my personal Relay For LifeŽ web page where you can make an online contribution. Every amount, no matter how small, makes a difference and provides hope. You can also sign up to join my team and learn more about Relay and how it's changing lives.

Relay For LifeŽ brings more than 3.5 million people from across the country together each year to celebrate the lives of those who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and fight back against a disease that takes too much. This fun-filled, overnight event empowers everyone to help fight cancer by raising money and awareness to support the American Cancer Society's lifesaving mission.

Thank you in advance for your support. Together, we will celebrate, remember, and fight back.

So help my friend raise some money for a good cause. Who knows, the life you save might be mine or Barker's.

Could you have possibly made that sound more dirty?

Sorry, already donated to someone else's team, but good luck reaching your goal too!

Whether you donate to this event or not, if anybody's company offers a matching program for charitable contributions, I hope you're taking advantage of it. Children's Hospital is the one my family has always supported the most heavily.

Swedish medical matched me dollar for dollar which was cool. I donated a couple car payments, and they did the same. It's also tax deductable, which is hella cool.

I think some companies even allow you to set it up so it comes out of your paycheck before tax.
