My job title is Fleet Marine Force Hospital Corpsman. The Marine Corps is a department of the Navy. I have never been on a ship. A regular Hospital Corpsman works on ships, subs, and hospitals/clinics. The Marine Corps doesn't have medical jobs so Navy Corpsmen volunteer or get voluntold to go greenside instead of blueside to be a combat medic. I wear Marine uniforms and I'm emedded with them and do what they do until someone is injured. We are in the desert training for Afghanistan(Helmend province), we are a light armored recon unit. Its like being in both branches.
