Mt. St. Helens Z Run - Sunday Oct 11th
Posted on the Northwest Z e-mail list is this Z car run for this Sunday:
"let's take advantage of what may be the last nice days for a while!
Let's try a Sunday to give those folks who can't make Saturday drives a chance.
Let's meet at the Circuit City parking lot in the Janzen Beach Center off of I-5 (Portland) at 9 am, this Sunday.
We'll drive up I-5 to Castle Rock, then head east up to St Helens.
Once off the Freeway, we'll have some chances for pictures at a few pull off places.
I'll see ya Sunday morning.
Thanks, Dan"
Several Z cars are already lined up for this run and mine just came out of the shop ready to go. I've been on this run before and the roads picked out are all really good!
See you guys there

Yes - short notice. I think they waited for a good weather weekend before posting this drive. Good weather is getting harder to plan on these days! It should be a fun Z car run. I'll try and get some photos of the drive for those who can't make it

BE WARE!!!!!
We gave the Z-car a bad name with the local law in that area several years ago.
They called all law in the area to "escort" us out of town.
20+ cars, most cruised at 120mph-140mph range, new 911 turbo that was modded saw 178mph on GPS.
We generated a great deal of 911 calls with no tickets issued.

Unless the Johnston Ridge Observatory is closed, it would NOT be a good idea to try anything that could be questionable while going up there. The WSP was being kind that day when they escorted groups of us down.
So how did the drive go?

It was a great drive! Not a single police car or park ranger seen the whole day. 13 Z cars showed including a brand new 370Z. We took the north side of Mt. St Helens and as you know the roads are all very wide and fast - although we kept the speeds fun and safe. It was a clear day with sun but still on the cool side. The leaves are turning colors now and this added for a great scenic drive.
