shaking my head.............
I think there is a definite need in society for everyone to carry guns, if I saw some crap like that go down, I might not hesitate to pop a few at the assailant myself...
Too bad there is a law saying I'm not able to do that, which is BS if you ask me! We should be able to not only defend ourselves, but the lives of others ESPECIALLY THE POLICE AND MILITARY!

If you read your CCW permit it says you can't shoot anyone... period. And if you do, you will either A) Go to jail B) Get fined... a lot or C) Both
Of course you go to court and what not, but the hassle is just plain ridiculous... even if you saved a bunch of cops lives in the process...

The law allows use of deadly force in the lawful defense of oneself, a family member, or any other person, when there is reasonable ground to prevent action(s) of the person slain to commit a felony or to do injury or harm, and there is imminent danger of such design being accomplished; or in the actual resistance of an attempt to commit a felony upon the slayer, on those in their presence, or upon or in a dwelling, or other place of abode, in which they are.
Washington state doesn’t have a specific Castle Doctrine law, but has no duty to retreat as precedent was set when the State Supreme Court found "that there is no duty to retreat when a person is assaulted in a place where he or she has a right to be."
You can't just go around shooting people for no reason and it will be a pain in the *** afterwards but you CAN shoot people to stop them from committing a felony, and last time I checked murder qualified

I think it's kind of funny how wa is a stand your ground state, but laws in Seattle pop up outlawing carrying in all sorts of places.
I don't really get why that will make anyone safer.. someone carrying with the intent to commit a crime isn't going to back down because a sign said they couldn't bring their gun there, it's just leaving law abiding citizens defenseless. hopefully that ***** over turned soon.
to be back on topic .. RIP. this is sad.

Although I agree that people should be allowed to carry, why bring it up? All the officers were carrying and had their vests on.
I thought this one was going to be gang related but doesn't look like it. The winter gloom makes people crazy here.

Right but the bastard specifically targeted those policemen/women... If I were in the coffee shop where it went down- I wouldn't have hesitated to blow that f**k wad away and spit on his corpse... I'm an expert shot with a pistol (only one out of the center at 15 and 45 yards)
Um yeah. I don't know you so maybe you are a marksman or something. But if there's anyone outside or near, you run the risk of shooting a friendly. I'm no expert but I seriously doubt you could have grabbed a gun and realistily prevented all 4 officers from being shot. And consider if you were with a GF, wife etc... you pull out your gun and shoot. He turns around and shoots back. I don't know if that guy had an automatic weapon or not but if he did, I'd suspect anyone with you would be hit too.
Not prevented, but I could have definitely ended it. One of the hardest things to predict as an officer and/or a military person is intent.
To use deadly force as a military member or a police officer we use the deadly force triangle, sounds cool- but all it means is... unless the person has "capability" "opportunity" and "intent" you must use a great amount of judgement before you discharge your weapon, all of those factors do calculate into your decision to draw, and subsequently fire, your weapon at an assailant.
As the saying goes, better to be judged by twelve than carried by six.
