Seriously, I've been looking for a lift or a ramp too.. I'm gonna have to put in my stock cats to go take an emissions test soon i think.

Not necessarily. What year is your Z? If you don't have a check engine light on you will pass Washington emissions.

not to thread jack, but if you unplug your battery and reconnect it right before you go in and the check engine light is off (50 miles before it comes back on iirc) itl still pass?

I think that works. The best way to deal with emissions is with a reflash. I just passed emissions no problem 3 weeks ago.

No, because to pass emissions all signals have to be in ready mode. If you have a check engine light now, it'll come back on for the same reason. Otherwise you'll fail before it comes back but all signals won't be in ready mode.

^ Yeah, you're right. I wish it was as simple as resetting the computer. I have the CEL, haven't checked it yet but I suspect it's the usual code that all HR people have with our damn HFC's. Either way, I'm gonna need a lift or something to get under there to either A: stuff the non foulers with brillo or B: re-install my stock cats.

go buy a jack and some jack stands. typically places like shucks will have a combo deal for like $80. a lift is unnecessary, it just cuts down on the time to install.

I have Jack stands and a low profile floor Jack. My concern is getting the car high enough for me to use the wrench. I most likely will buy the ramps and cribs to raise the entire car 14 inches.

I've had my car up on ramps and I wasn't able to get enough leverage to get the exhaust bolts undone myself. Really does help to have the car up high enough.
