Default Winter time Z driving in the Pac. NW

Looks like there hasn't been a post on here for a while now. Okay, I'll break the silence by tossing out a topic that was on my mind the other day.

So with winter coming soon and w/ the months on end of rain (hopefully nothing like what we had earlier this week). What are some of the things that one should do to keep the Z running well and looking well?

I'll admit that I’ll probably just let it sit in the garage for most of the winter, only taking it out whenever there’s a break in the rain and the roads are fairly dry (or WWSCC slush series). Is this wrong? It sure feels like it. But after putting in all the work on trying to keep the car looking good and getting into the habit of keeping it clean, it sort of goes against my better judgment to splash the Z through puddles and to have standing water tossed on it by other cars.

Anyone have any info or any advice on keeping a car looking and running well over the next few months where washing a car by hand will be rare thing?

Keeping it looking well is fairly difficult when it rains every day for 4 months Keeping it running well is easier, just make sure you do your oil change intervals and let it dry out as often as you can, since you have a garage it shouldnt be too hard. Its my only car, so I have to drive it no matter how wet it is

I just hope I get a few days of sunshine every once in a while where I can give it a wash and wax.

Is anyone thinking of putting on some winter tires? I've already fishtailed making a left during last weeks heavy rain. I'm really concerned about the colder weather to come.

Are there local z get togethers or drives anytime?
Just picked up my roadster and wondered if any club stuff is going on, track days ETC.

Default 350Z drive day

Yeah, it'd be nice to get together and see who's got new stuff for their Z, share some stories and meet the guys w/ the roadsters.

Hey johnlotusboy, you’ve come down here a lot of times, for drives and for auto-X's. I think it's about time that we come up to you instead of making you make the long haul down here. I don't know how many guys would be willing to make the trip, but although I don't know Bellingham at all, I'm willing to bet that there must be some roads that as just prime for driving. So, what do ya think? Can show us some of the back roads up there where you go to flex your Z's muscles?

One good run up Chuckanut Drive should suffice for anyone needing to stretch their Z's legs.

John - any suggestions before the weather gets too bad?

Default Meeting/Drive

This Sunday is the only chance for a month since I start my working on the weekends part of my 4 on 4 off sch'd.
There is a Krispy Kreme in Mount Vernon and the choice of roads is unlimited.
I work Friday and Saturday night this week but get off work at 6am Sunday morning. I can make up a drive route with no notice, You guys just got to tell me and we'll meet up and start the day with doughnuts or whatever.
I also know roads around MT. Rainer or the Olympic Pennisula that are great.
Keep me posted, I'm not afraid of coming down there to meet you guys.

Noel the car is great with the 275's on front and the 285's on the rear. With the lighter wheels I was able to bark 3rd gear with 2 people in the car, even with that much rubber!!

I don't know how many guys can make it on Sunday, but this weekend is no good for me. I should be good for the next 3 weekends before Thanksgiving.

John, since you mentioned Mt Rainer, are you suggesting that we go for a drive up to Paradise? A lot of car clubs seem to do that, and the roads are surprisingly good, but I don't know how long the roads are going higher up. Has it started snowing up there yet?

I hesitate to toss out the question that I guess eveyone is waiting for cuz it might make me the focal for arranging the activity... but... with that said, here goes:

For those of us interested in going for one last drive before the year's end, please provide your input on the following:
1) Suggested Date & Time (most likely AM)
2) Suggested Location for drive
3) Suggested Location for after-drive get-together.

I don't know the proper name for it here, but the Japanese call it "Ton-geh": timed mountian road runs (solo1 style). The drive up and the drive down from Paradise has stretches that are perfect for it. 2-way radios are a must. I've never done it before, but does anyone have any experience w/ it and know how to coordinate a group of us for it?

PS John: 275 up front!?! 285 on the rears?!? Man, that's sick!! I'd love to see 'em. Got pics you can post?

Hey fellas

I don't come on the board that much, haven't really had time to do anythign really cause of school and work and other things in the way and since I just picked up this new car it was kinda a hassle cause I got a lotta payments ahead of me

I wouldn't mind meetin up wit you guys for a lunch or dinner sometime or something, but a drive might be too much for me cause I haven't done one for a while and I probably dont' havet ime for them anymore now adays. With my old car club, which I'm still very close to we always tend to go out and get dinner/brunch/bbq/movie meets/ shows and a lot of other things, but lately everyone's been busy so i was thinkin maybe we could at least do a brunch or something and it all depends on my schedule i'm always workin on the weekend

Oh yeah by the way I'm Edris and nice to meet all of you

Man it's been cold! I was running around w/ the windows rolled down so I could listen to the exhaust better, just for fun. I guess I just got spoiled with all the great weather we've had this past summer, I wanted to experience a little of it again. But on the bright side the roads are still bone dry. I usually don't like to toss the Z around in the dark, but w/ night fall at earlier than 5PM, I'll take what I can get.

Hi Edris, nice to meet you.
