Default what the cluck, am I reading this right?

http://www.dol.wa.gov/vehicleregistration/cleancar.html

Types of vehicles that must meet Clean Car standards

* All new passenger cars, SUVs, vans, and pickup trucks with a model year of 2009 or newer must be certified to California emission standards. New vehicles that don’t meet California emission standards cannot be registered, leased, rented, licensed, or sold for use in Washington.
* Used vehicles must be certified to California emission standards if:
o The vehicle is a 2009 or newer model.
o The vehicle has less than 7,500 miles on the odometer.
o The new owner is a Washington resident.
o The vehicle isn’t exempt (see below).

(from the FAQ)

Do vehicles certified to California emission standards have to be emission tested?

No. The Washington State Legislature exempted 2009 and newer vehicles that are California certified from emission testing.

reading this, it sounds like all 09+ cars are required to meet these new california clean car laws.. and thus, do not have to pass emissions tests going forward.

if I am reading this right, that is ****ing awesome.

Washington state has some of the toughest air pollution regs for vehicles & since Ca. has the dirtiest & nastiest air quality in the US & has in place a standard for vehicle emissions, Wa. is just using this as a guideline. Simple enough

I am fairly sure if you drop a nuke somewhere, it creates a new air problem

The best thing about my '85 Ranger is that it is now exempt from emissions.....buh-bye smog stuff...next on the chopping block is the cat.

The bad thing about this Ranger is.....I was so used to my Z....this truck is slow, noisy, smells bad, uncomfortable to sit in,......the list goes on.
