Default Test Pipe Experiences

So who around here has ran test pipes and/or still does?

Just got my Invidia test pipes to mate to my HKS Hi-Power exhaust and wanted to get a feel for what people had experienced particularly with the po-po up here.

Thanks

The only thing about test pipes is it makes your car smell like gas, other them that I have never had any sort of problems with the cops or even at emissions testing.

Went with Borla headers and catback initially but could tell the exhaust was still being choked. Installed the Invidia TP's and noticed a difference right away. Partial throttle is not too bad noise wise but it can get loud when you're at WOT......I love how everything sounds!!!

my buddies wrx has been running catless for years, and his car is registered to his parents address in arlington or somewhere that doesn't require emissions testing. lucky bastard.

most newer cars dont really have issues with harrassment from the police, to be honest. unless your car is STRAIGHT PIPE loud, then you might have an issue. but even still, i daily drive my car with straight 3" and i just had a cop tell me he liked my car the other day LOL

I have been running test pipes, and haven't had any issues, it gets a little raspy around 3500 till about 4000. I think the rasp gives it a little character, unlike the fart cans people install on their cars. "Hey Civic guy, your car sounds like it just shat in its pants."

Thank guys!

Was getting a bit nervous about things I was hearing, didn't really do my research before this impulsive purchase

Think I may put some heat wrap on it just to disguise it a bit if a cop does feel like getting down on his hands and knees.

Obviously going to be super careful with dB levels in and around city driving but when I know I'm free and clear, gonna let her rip.

I live in Bellingham in whatcom county which doesn't do emissions testing...shhhhaweeetttt!

I'll psot some vids of what she sounds like after the install. Sometime at the beginning of January.

i don't sorry... its very raspy when cold but once the car is warm its pretty clean. imagine the Evo II like 10x louder at WOT but about the same while city driving. its quiet until you step on it.

The only problem you will ever have is that some TP's are low quality hence bad welds resulting in cracks!

Oh, and also, make sure you do the O2 sensor trick, and increase the size of the bung, otherwise you'll throw a CEL- and that will be bad.

If you get an Osiris tune you can turn off the CEL and just enjoy it

Basically, you increase the distance your O2 Sensor has from actually being in the flow of gasses inside your pipes.

interesting you mention this. will osiris disable the CEL 100% of the time or can you turn it off per code? if a scanner is hooked up and osiris prevents the CEL from coming on, will the scanner still pull a code if there is one?
