Default my car, Megan... is an attention *****...

i know i've already posted in the general forum - but it's always nice to hear some input from the locals!

i'll get some day time pictures up - by next spring she should have a Mines front CF lip - Nismo CF skirts - Chargespeed CF rear diffuser.
By summer i'm hoping to get my hands on some TE37s... i'm lovin the 285s shes runnin on now tho...

and by next fall/winter - going for an LS2 swap. but for now... here she is...

**last week** picked up some 95mm halos from retrofitsource.com and dropped them off at my buddy Austin's place, he blacked out and installed my halos. and i must say i'm in love with Megan all over again...

bought a K&N air filter cleaner kit - hit up both intakes - cleaned my throttle bodies out. washed n vac. tire shine....

and then my girlfriend bought me the hide-away plate i've been contemplating for a while now. and i custom fitted it today to work for the Z. a bit off center to miss the tow hook but looks good to me!

Off to a good start. I read halos and was worried, but didn't realize they go behind the housing thing, that looks really cool. The plans sound awesome. You could run 285s on TEs...that statement kinda confused me?

bad phrasing... i can't afford TEs right now haha. she's sittin on 19" Axis super hiros.

i've been torn between Show or Go. i was going for Go until i realized - unless i dump a TT system in... n/a isn't going to get me passed 400whp (cost efficiently). TT is nice but the up keep and gas mileage would blow as Megan is my DD. so LS2 swap its gonna be... got my $2000 saved for it so far... few more grand to go!

um, NA isnt going to get you 300 whp without ten grand. Stroker abd built block etc.. plenty of threads on it.

UPkeep and gas mileage on a TT?

An LS Swap is still a ten thousand dollar way to get 75 horespower man.
The only reason the LS swap is so cool is becuase the parts to make IT a twin turbo or cams or etc etc are far FAR cheaper than the 350z.
There is really only four ways to have your 350z done..
1- stock.
2- NA and bolt ons, and only w a tune will you get any extra hp at all.
3-Nitrous. 2000 total costs involved for a decent set up.
4- Step into the FI or engine swap club. Entrance fee is generally give or take at 10k and still has yearly residuals you must plan to pay for.
the above steps have been proven to be nearly entirely true, over and over, for years now.

Thats it buddy. Wish i had better news for you.
But good luck w that etc. Please read up a bit as Im sure you will before youd part w that kind of cash.. IF you ever do.

Plan B for the win. NA & bolt ons
Teen college students aren't meant for boost and 10k+ engine swaps.

Gotta love cosmetic mods

EDIT:
OP love the car.
The halos look great.
I also want that hide away license plate!
And you can't go wrong with good ol' TE37's.

I still get 22mpg freeway pushing 570whp on twins.

That being said bolt-ons & tune is the way to go. So fun & so reliable

Save your money, unless your skills have exceeded the cars.

many w FI /swaps etc regret it in many ways.

I did mine out of necessity.. engine was already blown, might as well build it.
When building an 8k engine, why not make it built for FI, then buy all the FI stuff etc.

Otherwise, i always said FI would never happen to my car.

Halos are indeed cool, i have them as well.. in fact, just sent mine out for add a double halo so i can see it in the day.
Keep it simple man.. theres more to life than a big engined Z. take your GF to Cozumel or something. Far better idea.
Fk it.. take ME to Cozumel. Ill quickly round up all sort of women, and Im not greedy w them haha.
There you go, better fun, third of the price.

McCann's statement unfortunately is as true as it gets. You have to pay if you want to have fun. I've broken crazy things on my car. Broke a diff, blew PS lines, overheated (extreme conditions of drifting), and many other things. If you aren't prepared for that, I wouldn't plan to go too crazy. Lifted the head and that caused me to build another block and change for Greddy twin to powerlab single.

Don't get me wrong, having a boosted car is fun. I love seeing old guys in their new Challengers and they think they have big guns until they are looking at your tail lights, not to mention drifting with so much power you bounce on the rev limited while the blow off is doing it's thing. The more power you get in your car, more than likely the more you will want to do with it.

If you want to go FI, do it. Just make sure you can afford to fix your car when something breaks. Add the words "Damn, I broke my car again" to your vocab.

if your looking at doing an ls swap, your looking at 6-8k in the swap kit and engine, thats a stock ls2. and thats assuming your doing all the labor yourself on that. if you want to do a cam and a mild build on it and make 450-500whp you'll be looking at another 1-3k. plus if you have a shop do it figure another 5k+ on labor. end cost is about the same either way you look at it. only benefit to the ls is itl be way less maintenance.figure either route you go 13k minimum if you do it right and dont go cheap on parts Car looks great btw loven the halos

I did mine pretty much NA, with nitrous. Got intake, spacer, exhaust done. Tuned at intec with osiris. Then I put on nitrous kit with 75 shot. I mean NA is nice 244 at the wheels and I dont think I need any more for daily driving. When I go to a track, I only get maybe 5-10 runs on the track, which one 10lb bottle is enough for.
With juice I get 299whp and 299 torque, which is a nice feeling when it kicks in.

That's exactly what I fear.

I've pretty much accepted this fact...
FI is not for broke teen college students.

thanks for the input and compliments.

i've put a lot of thought into it... i work at a dealership (that my brother owns) so i get free labor and i have no worries of down time. its more so for the fun of working on a project car.

realistically - i know i won't be keeping Megan forever. She's not the most functional car. it'd be fun to work on - drive for a few months and sell and move on to next car. i've never owned a car for more than 3 years. working in the car industry, i have plenty of access to bigger and better. wouldn't mind owning a C63 or a GTR next.

so we'll see. again... here she is for now. plans for the future... but as we all know - all of it can change with a kid! **knocks on wood**
