Post Hey Seattle! Drive - Saturday, September 25th

Whidbey Island drive with lunch in Oak Harbor at the Pot Belly Deli. We will start by taking the Mukilteo ferry at 9:30 and gather in Clinton (location TBD) and start the drive from there.

The route will head north and take us through Coupville, Deception pass, Oak Harbor, and Fidalgo Island, before heading back to I-5.

For those who miss the 9:30 ferry, we will wait for the 10:00 boat to cross before leaving Clinton.

Total drive is approximately 100 miles.

If you're interested in coming, post here or PM me.

Cool

I can, and will, make it! This will be my first real 'Z' drive, though I must admit the Bremerton Raceways was a blast!!

Is there some reason this is so flippin early? I would be much more inclined to go if it was:

1) Meet in Clinton for lunch at 12:30
2) Eat for an hour
3) Drive!

Weekdays I don't even wake up until 10....waking up at 8 on a weekend is just crazy talk.

Come on Da Gimp we aren't all lazy Microsoft employees here, some of us have to get up before 5am. Yes there really is a 5am even if you never have seen it. J/K LOL.

Hmmm....interesting point. I forgot to factor in the drive to the ferry...I was thinking downtown Seattle...not up north.
Still sounds like fun tho!!!

I hope it isn't raining.

I hope the time isn't too big of a factor, as there is little I can do to change the time without inconveniencing many. There are some Z32s, Z31s, and probably several 2x0s going as well. In all likelyhood, we'll have 20+ cars in total -- IOW, it should be a blast!

Come on, Da Gimp! You're not going to let us Unix guys outdo the Redmond folks, are you?

I'm posting the Info in the Microsoft Z enthusiasts public folder, I know there are a few Z32s and Z33 owners that would be interested.

I heard that the ramps from the bottom level to the upper level on that ferry is really steep (scrape bumper or exhaust). Has anyone taken their Z on this ferry before?

I'll know more about the ramp thing this evening. I'm meeting with a couple of the other Z guys, and the guy organizing the drive will be there. I'll post something either later tonight or tomorrow morning.

If you have a front lip spoiler like Nismo or Veilside version 1 you may scrape on the ramp going onto or off of the boat especially, if your car is lowered. I know by experience...ouch!

I talked to a couple of guys last night that had been on and off of it. They said you can request the main level if you're concerned, and the ferry guys happily accomodate you. We won't be coming back on the ferry, so you only have to get on once. Most said the tricky part getting on is if it's at low tide... anyone wanna check what the tides are going to be that morning? Even then tho, if you're stock, it shouldn't be any issue at all. You may have an issue with a lip or drop.

On a related note, I found out about a track day last night as well. It's September 28th, and I've put the details in another thread.

I hope the weather breaks for us! We've sure had a string of crap lately.

Looking forward to seeing some Z's!

Which shop did you leave it in?? I usually go up north to Lynwood...haven't had much luck with downtown or Renton.

Any time estimates on getting to the ferry from around i-90...

Just curious how early I have to leave my house to make the 9:30 ferry.

It took about 30 mins yesterday (sunday) morning. I'm planning on leaving my house in Kent about 8am or so, just to make sure I'm in time.
