new Z totalled in Sunnyvale
I was on my way home heading east on Fremont and noticed flashing lights ahead around the Fremont/Wolfe intersection.
When I got to the crash site, there was a new Silver Z coupe on the lane heading west but facing south and a light pole on the median and far left lane. Also at the scene, a tow truck, two sunnyvale police interceptors, and a PG&E service truck.
Looking at the Z, it looked like the test driver hit the light pole dead in front center. Yes, the MSRP sheet was still on the car.
My guess is the driver lost control turning on Fremont from Wolfe.
I took the same test drive route when I got my Z. Coincidentally, my salesman, Ken Hyuhn, from Falore was there at the scene.
He looked shakened but was not injured.
Do crashes like these give Zs a bad rap with the local police???

The driver is responsible if they are the driver.
Most insurance poliiys will cover the test drive of the auto.
"Any other auto, you drive with the permission of the owner!" is the usual wording.
My deaerlship had one too. Driver asked the sales rep to turn off the VDC and then tried to take a curve. Caught a slick spot on the road and curbed it bad.. Screwed up the rear suspension and axle. both wheels. Had to be towed in. The sales rep told his GM that the driver really wasnt hotdogging. He just lost it.
I would hate to buy that one.
