Angry Cracked My Windshield!!!

I was heading northbound 101 when a rock or something flew and hit my windshield! I heard a loud tap on my windshield and when I looked, there was a nickel size crack that looked like a small bullet hole !!! Anyone know how much it is to change repair/change my windshield? Also, any recommendations on where I can get it fixed? I plan on riding it out for a while but I'm sure it's only just going to grow in size over time.

Thanks,
James

I feel your pain... Mine broke three weeks after I got my Z. Still have not fixed it as it is very low and out of view but will be doing so soon.

Here is the last thread about this with some recomendations...

Thanks Chris! Yeah, mine is pretty low too (right down the middle about 6" above where the driver side wipers start going up). It's just real annoying to look at when I'm driving . After looking at the price for the OEM (which I think is rediculous!), I'm most likely going with the PPG.

check in Yellowpage. Those that replace windshield. Cheaper than buy direct from the dealer.

check with your insurance company, they can recommend a good installer.

when the windshield on my G35 chipped, I had it replaced with OEM glass. Parts/labor came out to $935.69 (windshield was $777). If the nickel size crack can be repaired, your insurance will cover the entire amount. it won't be perfect, but at least you shell out $0.

all star glass in san mateo (650.588.7300) repaired mine. they'll come to your house and do it.

I have maybe 5-6 rock strikes on my windshield. They are all small, but I have never had a car that gets hit in the windshield like this Z. BTW: they always sound like someone shot me.

you can just claim insurance and most glass places will waive the deductible.
i didn't get oem tho, but i figure it'll crack again anyways.
