Default OT: MyFi in Z

My GF just bought me an XM2Go MyFi reciever. It rocks.

Has anyone installed aftermarket satellite radio on the Z? If so, do me a favor and let me know how you ran the antenna cable/where you placed the antenna.

Thanks,
Kyle

I put my antenna under the rear strut bar. Ran it through the trunk floor and under the console.

mgk65 -- Great pic and thanks for the info. Did you leave the strut bar cover off or replace it? Either way, is your reception pretty good? I just set the antenna on top of the strut bar to try it out and it seemed fine.

I replaced the cover so that the antenna is invisible.

I do notice a slight degradation in signal as compared to my fiance who has her antenna on the dash, but I don't mind too much. I would much rather the antenna be invisible.

I'll post a picture of my XM Commander in my NAV compartment when I get home.

Great! Looking forward to seeing it. I'm trying to figure out if I'm going to use the vent mount or the adhesive mount for the MyFi.

I'm thinking of putting the antenna smack on top of the strut bar...

Kyle:

When I say degradation, it only means that under certain orientations, like when there is a very high wall or building on the right will the be a signal problem. Doesn't happen often.

Anyway, here is the picture of the XM Commander.

BTW, I really like the new MyFi.

mgk-

That's a sweet looking install. I was trying to figure out a way to fit the MyFi into the nav compartment but I don't think it's going to work.

I really like your placement of the antenna too. I may just set it inside the strut bar cover to see about reception in my area. If it's not too bad, I think your idea is the best way to go.

Thanks again for the pics and advice. I like this MyFi thing more and more each day. Pull it from the cradle at home, plug it into the car, then unplug it and take it to the airport. What a great idea they came up with.

What I did for my fiance and her SkyFi in her Toyota Rav4 was to use the gooseneck that attaches to the passenger seat bolt and hardwired the mount.

It is strong and sturdy. $20 from www.myradiostore.com

If I had a MyFi that is what I would use:
