Cheap may not be a good idea.... What are you installing? What are you trying to achieve with your sound system?

I'm not trying to achieve much with sound. I just want a navigation system. I thought about an AVN2454 which is 1500 at good guys (the 5435 is 1800) but if I can get a avic-d1 for 1200 or so that would be worth losing the DVD playback because I don't think I'll be using it often.

Oh and I'll probably install some 2 way DLS iridium after I get this navvy system.

hey zrdude, the site i purchased the D1 from was JJI electronics, they sounded pretty friendly and professional over the phone and shipped it free. It should have arrived at the office this morning can't wait to check it out

I did give dynamic audio and those other places a call but I'm doing this install myself so there really isn't a reason for me to pay near msrp and take it home.

As far as pricing goes, ... I'm almost positive most retail stores, including big ones like good guys, are listing the D1 for 1600 because its such a new unit. Most of them probably price match also. I would just go with the one that has the best rep. for installations and future customer service.
