Brought my car to Falore Nissan today for the 15K mile maintenance and was told my 2004 350Z touring (Dec 2004 build date) has feathering on front tires. No wonder the car got noisier at around 12K miles. The tires can go for at least another 5K miles but I decided to just replace all 4 and have them aligned.

Can anybody recommend a good alignment shop that has experience with the 350Z feathering issue? Preferably, that alignment shop sells tires as well. Also, can you recommend a good Z-rated tire that will last longer than the original Potenzas?

So I don't know if this place has particular experience with Z's, but they are the number 1 recommended alignment shop by everyone who races.

They are in Mountain View. I brought them my Stealth and they spent almost 3 hours working on the car making sure it was exactly what I had asked for. I recommend making an appointment.

They are not cheap (I think around $230), but they take their time and get it right.

I would recommend you bring them the Nissan tire feathering TSB that specifies exactly what the front toe settings should be and discuss the issue with them to see if they have any other recommendations.

 

^they aren't that great, imo....i took my car there and they said they couldnt align it without camber kit...took it to another place and they aligned my car without that kit

 

where is it? also, how big is your rim? 18? 19? or 20"?

Do every "04" Z & yourself a faver. Call NNA & put in (FILE) your complaint. THEY (NISSAN) told us there was no WARRaNTEE --then gave us"03"'s new tires & free alignments till 36k miles. Now there telling us 350Z's that it was a faver & the warrantee said no warrantee on tires --please NOTE: NISSAN has lost EVERY "LEMON LAW SUIT" TO DATE, on the feathering issue.

P.S. I have gotten 2 free sets of front tires & 2 alignments to date MY tires are still feathering & they are going to do it again just before I hit 36k.

you can ask them to replace the tire for you. Why pay on your own?

which forum is the feathering thread located? I've put in a call to NNA and they claim they will get back to me within 2 days...

Really, we are good til 36K?? I tried to threaten them, Superiou Nissan in FMTt, with the lemon law and they told me lemon law has to apply within a year? sounded like BS....
