Hmmm. That's strange. Wonder what kind of calculation he was using. He should have been able to let you know the whp in that case.

+1 for Scott Performance.

300.7 hp at the crank, stock AE with Nismo cat back. Went a little lean in the high rpm range so maybe ready for the Unichip and a Ted dyno tune.

These guys and gal's are great and I'm glad to have found a place I don't mind having my car worked on at!

Thanks Ted

Also, how do you make 279 hp at the wheels with *just* a y-pipe and headers? Or can you?

Yeah, 279 is pretty high. I have nismo headers, nismo exhaust, JWT popcharger, and unichip (tuned by Ted) I made 256 at the wheels on his dyno. 238 pre unichip.

It must be corrected from the wheels to the readout crank hp?

Ted can you clear this up?

Yes he was converting to crank. I lost 7hp with my mods I am a little confused with the print out he gave me though. It says that I made max power at 6500. Doesn't the power peak around 5700?

Just curious but why not just measure rwhp? Seems like there are way too many variables between different cars to effectively calculate crank hp based off of a rwhp measurement.

I'm a little confused as well about the printout he gave me... he said everything was at the crank. My torque dyno says 221 tq @ 6500 rpms; Ted said that was pretty much right on from the factory (my Z is bone stock). Are Z's rated at 221 tq CRANK from the factory at 6500 rpms???? Or is this at the wheels? Looking on Nissan's website, we have 274 tq @ 4800 rpms. This is where we have max torque, so I look at my dyno chart once again and scan the rpms. The most torque we have indeed is at 5000 rpms; my dyno says 238 tq @ 5000 rpms. So do I have 238 tq at the wheels at 5000 rpms? Or crank? Does this sound about right for a bone stock Z? I'll post my dyno chart if it helps.

238 does sound like an "at the wheel" number for torque. I have no idea the calculations used to measure HP at the crank. I thought the engine had to be out of a car to get an accurate #.
