Default decent shop near Vallejo?

Hello all. I checked out the Bay Area shop directory and didn't see anyone local to me in Vallejo. So I'm wondering if anyone knows off a good shop close by who can install a set of shocks for me. Thanks in advance.

Its pretty easy, I have spring compressor if you need it. I'm in american canyon. But if you want a shop, go to AZN and robert can help you out. Also harbor freight has spring compressors for $8.99 if you want to do it yourself.

Thanks, I've heard it's pretty easy but I'm in the middle of planning a move so the garage isn't really in the best shape to do anything in. I know where AZN is so perhaps I'll give them a ring. And thanks for the info and offer to borrow your spring compressor.

Almost went with them when I put my springs on my z. Decided to go with motorsport dynamics in sacramento. Didn't do a good job
though, so I recommend the one in Vaca, right off the freeway.

I had a roll bar installed and welded in by a guy located in Sacramento that used to prep race cars for Comptech (for 16 years). He went on his own, and does a pretty good job at installs and welding. His name is Mike Tolle, and his number is 916-524-5315. I was very happy with his work on my roll bar. I've seen his other customer's cars, and I can tell he does a lot more than just welding.

If you do go with him, let us know how it went. Sometimes, I get good mortgage brokers, and then they don't do as good of a job for my referrals. It allows me to call them back and tell them that I can no longer refer them.

I installed my own springs, and although I felt the spring removal and install was easy, getting those shocks off the car was a real PITA.

Good luck,
Don

Don, is Mike's shop called Calcuated Risk? If so I believe I know him. We'll see. I might just end up doing it myself, though I'll have to clean up my garage and take the time out over the holidays

Derrick,
Mike's shop isn't called Calculated Risk, at least it isn't now. It's located off Orange Grove Drive, near I-80 and Watt. His business card basically states: "Welding and Fabrication", but based customer's cars that I saw in his garage, it looks like he does a lot more than just welding and fabrication. I'm sure he mainly specializes in chassis work, but he was installing a supercharger in a 1960's mustang when I dropped my car off. He was also fabricating some headers for a 1100hp drag racer.

It has been a while since I've worked with someone that knows more than me, and it was quite refreshing to have worked with him. I've had bad luck with many vendors (including Vivid Racing) who don't know what the hell they are doing or selling. Gruppe-S was so-so...customer service is practically non-existent, and Autopower's prefabbed roll bars are less than mediocre (I'd give it a "D+").

What shocks did you go with? I'm considering the TC Klines or the JRZ's, but I'm not ready to pull the trigger quite yet. I have to hurry up though because my wife wants a baby by next year, and if I wait too long, I don't think I'll ever get new shocks.

When you said you had your roll cage done there I assumed you were talking about a guy I know in Sac who does a lot of work. Anyway, I picked up a set of Tokico D-specs for sub Ebay prices. Talked to a few people who have been tracking them with the same springs and sways I currnetly have and they've been getting good results. Price is great and it sounds like I'll still be able to keep it civil on the streets. The Z is not my daily drive but I still plan on driving it on the streets as well. And if I don't like them I can easily sell them after we move to Vancouver (huge market for used parts up there due to the import duty). Good luck with the kid. My wife and I are actually expecting our 2nd any day now Though our lifestyle has changed, we quickly adjusted and I don't really feel any different financially then before we had kids. I'm sure there is a difference but I just don't notice it anymore so I still track the car and buy tires, pads, parts, etc. as necessary (or unecessary as the case may be). But I can easily say that having a kid is the best thing that has ever happened to us, and I'm sure the 2nd will be no different.

Hey 900th post! Whoo hooo.
