Default vid of Thunderhill in my Z

https://my350z.com/forum/autocross-road/168736-long-vid-at-thunderhill-ca.html

I posted this in the racing section, but thought some ppl who haven't been to Thunderhill might want to see it in action. The camera was mounted to my front bumper tow hook...the Z was stock besides for an AEM CAI. I'ts a long unedited vid...

BTW: Google is great. The vid is more than 500 MB and I was able to upload the whole thing for free!

Nice video man. Which event was this? We'll have to meet up at an Thill event this summer. I'd be interested in seeing your camera set up. And you can come out with me on the slicks

it was with NCRA (something like northern cali racing association)...I'd love a ride in another Z, especially if it has slicks! (I got a ride at Thunderhill in a spec miata w/ slicks...it was one of the most fun rides I've ever had!)

The spec miata's are really fast through the corners. I've never had the opportunity to ride in one but I've been on the track with them. Trackmasters has two Thill events in March (10th & 31st I think). I think I may try to get to one if we can get a few more people to go. I know daveh is always down?

I saw myself in that video...how cool. I'm thinking of signing up for the April 16 event...

I really liked the amount of track time I got with NCRC. Maybe I'll see you there.

I've never run with NCNR- is it a good group? Maybe I'll see if I can make the 4/16 event.

NCRC seems to be on the safer and more organized side than other clubs I've run with. The exception was the last Infineon day where they merged with a group called Traquest. That was a little weird because of the rule / procedure differences between the 2, but it was still generally a safe and fun day. Most times I've run with NCRC they've run 4 groups. Sounds like you won't get much track time but they do let you run down 1 group if space permits, and I've enver been turned away due to space. Most NCRC days I sit out a session if I'm doing double time, especially on the warmer days. Make sure you get the discount from another NCRC member if this is your first time running with them. It's pretty significant and it will give the current NCRC guy $50.00 off! I did this a few times and was able to run Infineon for $100.00

I thought they were well organized; they had 3 run groups (novice/Intermediate/Race) with a relay race just after lunch. That day wasn't too full, so they let you run in your group as well as the group below you...I got almost 3 hours of track time (enough to kill my rear brakes).

I'll see if I can make April 16th-it'd be great to get a solid group of Z's there.

*last year there was a discount for new memebers; I'll see if they're doing it this year too.

This is one of my biggest problems as well. I typically eat through a new set of rear pads in one full track day.

I got raybestos 41 pads-from what others have said, they'll last around 10 track days. (I haven't used them yet, but I hear it's a big learning curve as to the braking characteristics)

I've been using PF97 up front on the track for the last two years and absolutely love them. Nice strong initial bite and great life, but the dust is absolutely brutal on wheels. I've run a few different pads in the rear and mostly street pads so I've expected them to melt. I always take extra pads and usually spend the last session swapping them . I should probably check out the raybetos.
