snow boarders
If its your first time, strap a pillow to your butt. You think I'm kidding but i'm not!! Take lessons if your a noob. It can make a world of difference. I started snowboarding about 4 years ago after being a life long skiier. And I fell probably 20 times on the bunny hill. Skiing help me link turns once I learned to how to go, but it did not help me learn to manuever the board.
learn the fallin leaf... first thing i teach my students, after i teach them how to stand anyway, im an instructor part time, basically its just like a falling leaf going from side to side. itll help you get used to the feeling and help you learn how to control the board
Make sure u bring some goggles b/c its supposedly snowing in the mountains this weekned and try to keep warm (gloves, headgear, and dont forget chapstick) . But yesss some fresh powder!!

look where you want to go, not where you're going. realizing that helped me a bunch with carving last time i went snowboarding. (if this is really obvious advice and sounds stupid, forgive me, i'm from miami and don't get to snowboard often!)
im actually going snowboarding tomorrow...
you're going to fall no matter what in the beginning, just face it..thats how u learn...your body will train itself on what not to do to prevent from falling...
If I had to start all over learning..I would try to learn how to carve sideways down the slope first, balancing yourself....that will teach you how to stop when u need to and also allows for control of the board. After that you can slowly learn to turn and if u feel out of balance at any time, you can resort to sideways carving again to stop...this will prevent you from falling everytime. Also be a little brave but know your limits.
Ive been about 8 times or so...it's so fun and addicting...hehe

snowboarding sucks! skiier for life! :P
jk, iwish my ski boots were as comfy as snow boarders boots hehe, one thing that does irk me about snowboarders are the ones that sit under the lift smoking all day, and takingup room hehe
if its your first time, definetly do soemthign to your butt and knees, and try always to fall backwards instead of forwards, also, i would suggest as puffy of a glove as possible, cause you will be using your hands a lot hehe
and mostly be patient, with skiing or snowboarding, it usually takes people at leat 3 trips to get it and enjoy it, the first htree times may be just horrible and you may even hate it
i know cuase i was a ski instructor for a season about 6 years ago

This is the problem I have til i knock out about 3 runs. Your probably a lil too stiff and over compensating. Once i got loose and since we were in fresh powder i just started ripping it up. Oh and in powder you need a slightly longer board then usual because you'll stall out in powder with a short one.

out of all the lake tahoe area resorts, whats the best one? or all the same?
for someone who enjoys more say 30percent green 40 percent blue, and 30 percent black and double black

For a fourth time snowboarder front edge control is key. Go down the bunny hill using that "falling leaf" technique. Basicly try to become comfortable on transfering from heal to toe edge and back. Hopefully you'll fall on your face less.
one of the key fundamentals that most first time snowboarders overlook: loosen your knees. It's extremely critical to not get injured. You'd be surprised how many ppl just get nervous and tense as speed creeps up, and forget about that.
You'll have tons of fun.

My favorites are Northstar, Bear Valley, Heavenly, Boreal and even Donner.
excellent, that is one of the times im talking about when picking up speed you just need to loosen up and just flow with it.
