To my Nor Cal photo gurus
Where did you get that information.............craigslist?
I bet you were browsing in Craigslist for "20d" and that 30d information popped out, right?
Admit it that you are an addicted craigslist browser for 20d, 350z, puma, rolex and men seeking men.

30D is from Canon's website, and I use Craiglists to get Massages......I still don't understand what "happy ending" means.

). I do love Canon DSLRs though, and I'm very happy with my 350D.
When the 30D shows up on shelves, the 350D (Digital Rebel XT) and 300D (Digital Rebel) will drop even more in price, making them excellent deals. In addition, there really isn't THAT much of a difference between the 350D and the 20/30D (the biggest being size/feel... tech specs aren't vastly different, the 20/30D are a smidge better in many categories... but, in my opinion, not several hundred dollars better
).
Lenses are what really what end up costing you the most, but you can use them on all your future camera bodies, so it's kinda moot which body you currently have. Just make your Canon vs. Nikon decision now and stick with it.
