I am running on a slightly different plan but will be with you guys all of Saturday till things break up and people head out. Then I'll be staying down there and hanging out with family Sunday, doing the Castle thing etc. and heading back Monday.

Lets not start talking about shifting dates or I'll be going by myself on the 8th.

Also, we need to talk about routes, meet points and leave times.

Are we going down 1?
MS Streets says it will take 2:30 hours to get down there from S. San Jose doing 101, 156, 1 route.

Not that I know of. It seems we really don't have much of a "group" here anymore. I contacted 1 other but they said no.

Something tells me that changing the date wouldn't help much. The date needs to stay as is. We just need to wake people up and get them to respond, especially those from the original list. Even if it's a no go for them it would be nice to know.

They took 1 down last time. It's what makes the drive worthwhile. I agree we should use SSJ as the main meet point. I'll leave the exact location up to a local.

I'll be hanging out with the Central Coast Z Club tomorrow at the Pismo Car Show and try to get some of them to go. Would you folks in the So Cal group mind making a stop in the Central Coast so at least myself and maybe others could drive up with you?

We're sticking with the date. I posted in the Socal forum to remind them that changing the date would just confuse everyone and cut the turnout. We're sticking with July 8; now let's just get more Norcal folks to go. I bet if Dave (whatever) is into this, more people will show.

Ok, the 8th it is

Looking at the poll thread, an 8:00am leave time from LA is what is suggested. I don't know where they plan to leave from but if they left from the Starbucks in Woodland Hills at Topanga and Ventura, it will take roughly 3:30 hours to get to HC and arrive around 11:30am.

We could target the same time by leaving S. San Jose at 9:00am, but I think it would be better to leave a bit earlier in case there is slow going on 1 for whatever reason (with lots of sections with little or no passing, we could end up behind a caravan of motorhomes). So here is what I propose:

Leave time of 8:15am (try and show up by 7:45am)
From the Startbucks at 125 Bernal Rd., San Jose, CA 95119

It's where the 85 and 101 come back together just before leaving the Valley. There is a Shell Gas in the same parking lot, so we can fill up as we arrive and make a clean exit. There is plenty of open parking so we can avoid door dings. I can lead us out of the lot and back on to 101 (trust me, my way is more fun than getting on where you got off).

Also, if there are any Salinas guys going, we should arrange a stop to pick them up as well, the best place for that is probably in Monterey but someone down there should choose that spot.

Chris

HyperSprite, are you going to be in charge of organizing the norcal stuff?

I am not exactly sure what "in charge" is but I'll be in charge of the leave point time and location from South San Jose. Don't really know what else there is to do from my perspective. I can print maps and tell everyone what radio frequency we are on. I don't want to lead down 1 because I will have my wife with me and that may curtail my enthusiastic driving style, if you know what I mean.

From a NorCal perspective, this meet looks like it is in trouble. Figuring that only 50% of people who say they are going actually will, it's looking pretty sad. What can be done? How do we build the list back up?

Chris

Maybe start another thread that includes specifics? I think the fact that nobody is "leading" the norcal group hinders anything. In socal, I know we have a bunch of people contributing. If you take charge and start a new thread with a list and all the specifics, I think more people will sign up.

I'm willing to help out and promote this as much as I can but, still waiting for an answer to my previous question.

Gary, where exactly is the Central Coast? Could we meet up somewhere along the 1 or 101? I wouldn't mind personally.

Chris,

I've revised the list to it's current status. I've also just sent PM's to all those from the original list that haven't responded. Don't know what else to do to get more signed up.
