Default good bike dealer?

Hey guys. I'm in the market for a new black R6 within the next month. I went to East Bay Motorsports today and they had one. I just fell in love. But the MSRP is at $9299 and they said they can't go below that cuz it's so new and so in demand. I'm wondering if anyone here rides and has hookups? I'm not a good negotiator............. maybe somewhere that I can get below MSRP?

Thanks for any info.

Alex

But that bike is in high demand plus well you are buying at the worst time of year. If you buy from these guys take it too a good shop like Hare Racing to make sure its set up right. Motorcycle shops tend to do a ****ty assembly and set up.

what ever you do......DO NOT buy from east bay motorsports. Your best bet would be the Berkeley Yamaha Dealer. However if you don't mind driving a bit, go to any dealer outside the bay area. Trust me on east bay motorsports though. If you want any more info you should check out www.bayarearidersforum.com

Thanks for the heads up trackmjt. I checked out the forum and most of the complaints are about the customer service...if that's the only issue, then it's ok because I've gotten some pretty good service today. Anything else I should be concerned about that I might have overlooked? They are quoting me $10,500 otd for the 06 R6 Raven...

Any Yamaha dealers you recommend?

Thanks.

Alex

it's not only customer service at east bay motorsports. I did buy one from them a year ago and I paid 9k otd. That was only because I had a quote from another dealer. They said if I were to come down that they would match it. I had to go back and forth with them for awhile, treated me like I didn't know **** and were rude to me. All I can say is I'd never buy from there again. There are other dealers out there that are much better.

*edit: I forgot the price went up some on the R6, however paying over 10k otd is to much.

Search around your area for another dealer. I would drive at least an hour away to find another dealer. Also, if you know someone who knows the manager/employees of a dealership get them to go with you, they will usually help with the price. But seriously, if you are serious about buying, tell the dealer that you really want one and ask what they can do and maybe say that you are willing to pay today if they match your price. They should help. I have never been to a motorcycle dealer where they weren't willing to help you buy the bike. They want to sell sell sell! Also, remember the timing; this time of the year has the highest demand for bikes.

thanks for all the advice guys. Called LA Cycle today and they quoted me $10,900 otd......so even higher.

I'm gonna go into East Bay with $10,000 cash, and say that's all I got...see what they do. Or another dealership. But first I have to try to see which dealership has better service...

Dude, you bought the same color car that I have (black 350Z) and now the bike I want (Raven R6... or R1) *

J/K bro A lot of my friends are getting bikes now, each one pushes me closer and closer to doing so myself. Somebody already beat me to it, but http://www.bayarearidersforum.com/ is a good start for any questions that you have.

Me, if I do go this route, I'll get a cheap $1.5-2G bike and then perfect my riding until I go with an R6 or R1

*you might just be my long lost little brother

LOL man jump on it! Maybe we can go in and use the chinese accent and be like "me take two!! by one get one fee!!" LOL...

yea it's a good idea to go from a 250 first...that's what I did. But I couldn't stand it...all my friends were on 600's, 750's, or liter bikes...so I moved up in a month and a half. You just have to be conscious about safety and make sure YOU ride the bike instead of having the BIKE ride you.

Come on man!! check out the weather!! Buy one too and we'll go riding!!

Edit: oh and I just joined the forum this morning under the same screen name.

found this info on the forums:

After the 3% end of year reimbursement, the cost for the dealership is $7680.46. The only thing I think is missing from here is the dealer's flooring costs and fixed costs to be covered. Including those, by paying $10000 otd, they would still have a $2000+ profit. But of course, on the other hand, this is a "in-demand" bike. So I'm gonna try the $10 G strategy... what do you think?

I've heard a lot of great things about the Berkeley Yamaha Dealer. That's where I plan to go next.
