Audi Streets of Tomorrow
The event is being held at the Computer History Museum in Mountain View. The only car I was interested in was the RS4, but you can't take the RS4 out for a test drive. Apparently they were available for test drives at the very first event (in LA i think) but some bonehead bragged online about running the car up to 140mph and Audi found out. Your only option is to ride along on an extremely small autox course which lasts about 10 seconds. The sound of the RS4's exhaust is intoxicating.
After a mandatory test drive of the Q7, you can hop on a bus to a different facility where you have the option of driving an A3, A4, A6, A6 Avant, A8, Q7, XC90, X5, or an LX470. All cars had automatics. The size of the test 'track' was decent enough to get a feel for the cars. It was also lightly covered in gravel which made the slalom quite interesting. Technically, you're only allowed to take out up to 4 cars but we were able take out all of them. As long as you didn't get too crazy (IE, knock out a bunch of cones) you could pretty much drive the cars as hard as you wanted to.
After test driving the cars we went back to the museum for a meal in the 'Lifestyle Lounge'. The food was actually pretty decent, although I can't get the damn 'streets of tomorrow' song they were blaring out of my head. The last day of the event is tomorrow. I highly recommend attending if you have time:
