Do police here have a required quota they have to meet at the end of the month here? The reason I ask is because I have been seeing ALOT more cops around pulling people over like crazy.
cops been laying off on tickets so they are pushing more tickets and yes they have a # tehy have to give. cops dont really like giving tickets unless its really dangering lives. they give tickets cuz they have to and no commison like parking meter guys..
and i heard your area is worse cuz its empty streets and everyone speeds

I don't think SJ or SC have quota's, I think it may be more because of this: http://www.ktvu.com/news/11308818/detail.html
FYI,
SJ PD has some good policing info about the different areas.

Ticjet Quotas ar illegal by federal law..However Police Departments do have work perfomance evaluations that require a certain number of tickets to be issued to guage an officers effectiveness.

As long as they're not stereotyping you because of your car, and following you everywhere, who cares?

Thats always been the consensis of opinion, and its probably true, They know more about how to get around the law than anybody, as do the Feds that said they couldnt do it, who themselves are juggling the laws.
Unfortunatly, everything now days is a business, whether it be the Catholic church or The US govt. or Mom and Pops Pornorami. All businesses have Quotas they have to meet. We, as John/Joann Q Citizen are simply a vessel to be drawn upon to meet those goals.

well the reason i asked about it is cause I think I am a really careful driver and the other night i got pulled over for what i thought was an unusual reason. well it started the other night when i saw some cops pulling over a guy on 101 North by gilroy and so i slowed down to 65 mph. soon after i saw someone following real close behind me so i thought maybe i was driving too slow and so i changed lanes to let him pass, but the car still followed me. i changed lanes again and the car still followed me. after this, i got kinda scared and slowed down to 60 mph and then i see lights shine on me and red lights going off. i was then pulled over and the cop says i was swerving all over the place and going 10 mph under the speed limit. i thought "i was changing lanes cause i thought someone just wanted to pass me by and i slowed down after because i was scared it was cops." however, i didn't want to anger the cop so i just said i was tired and then he says that my screen cannot be on while driving. it wasn't playing any video and even the music was off so the screen was just on with a picture saying "audio off" i just said i was real sorry and he checked my license and let me go. i don't even know why he followed me in the first place. when i think about it, i think they were profiling me...who knows...i was just happy enough not to get a ticket.
Maybe it's because of this https://my350z.com/forum/showpost.ph...9&postcount=41. I still have the physical newspaper where this was on the front page.

Cops do not have a quota... They are allowed to write as many tickets as they want.. The road units do not write tickets unless they have to, mainly to justify an arrest stop.. But the traffic units are paid to do nothing but run traffic and write tickets... So they do it.. Sadly some of them are too good at it.. FHP is a traffic unit.. That is all they have to do..
It's not actually a quota. All Traffic Officers have stats that are recorded. So if Officer-A wrote 10 citations, Officer-B wrote 11 citations and Officer-C wrote 2 citations, Officer-C might get a talk by the shift commander about it. Atleast that's how I know it to be.
