Default Route from Monterery, Ca.

I don't know where to put this so I'll just ask from you Norcal guys.

I'm in Monterey and I'm going down Socal soon. Whats the best way to take going down Socal w/o going up and passing the 5.

I have 2 choices right now. From Monterey, take a lonely road called g16 and hit Greenfield to hit 101 early.

OR

Crawl down the 1 then just merge to 101 from there

I know the 5 is the best but I just want to pass 101 going home.

Any suggestions aside from taking the 5 would be great. thanks!

Yeah, but i have two choices to hit 101.

Take the G16 route OR take Route then merge to 101

After Monterey, does the 1 still have stoplights? or just mountain roads?

I went to San Diego and Oceanside two weeks ago and just came back. Made great time going down using HWY 101 S// Made poor time returning by HWY 5// Went to GT MOTORSPORTS.

5 sucks, I don't even bother any more. Trucks going 65 in the slow lane and losers in the fast lane passing them going 66 and its ugly as heck.

I loved going down 1 the last time I did it, although I did it with a bunch of Zs so it was even better. If you need to make time though, take 101, its a nice drive.

If you're in Monterey just get on 68, it's a short trip to 101 and you can stop off at Laguna Seca on the way.
