Default help on motor

the motor makes a loud clicking sound. if you watch the video, you'll see. I currrently have an turbonetics kit, CJ Motorsports Stage 2 with 550cc, and UTEC. Can anyone in the bay area can help me out with my build?

Does it rev match? Sounds like my Evo did when my block decided to take a dump on me.

Rod knock Sounds pretty bad too. Did you lose oil pressure at some point recently?

It also sounds like a bad lifter. Rod knock, from what I remember, would be much louder and have more of a random knock. Not the repeditive tick that you hear.

That sounds pretty loud to me, though you could diagnose it pretty easily by listening to see if the sound appeared to be coming from the head in one bank or the block itself. Rod knock would be the sound of the conrod slapping around in a damaged bearing, so while it can very in severity, it will always follow engine RPM.

When the engine is colder, the oil is thicker and pressure is higher, but as temps come up and oil viscosity and pressure at idle decrease, the noise appears? Does it increase in frequency with engine RPM? does it appear localized to one particular part of the engine?

my block is built.

i was missing 1 quart of oil so i suspect that it's NOT spun rod bearing... but hell, it was making all these funky *** noises that seems to be the most obvious reason i could speculate as.

i am thinking heavy valve damage, but again only speculation. the shop should be calling within a few hours... i'll let you know by then.

btw, where was your noise coming from? mine was coming from the driver side above the throttle body.

well got the news today: it was a spun rod bearing.

i checked out the bearing which has 2 raised notches and cylinder 6's bearings were gone... just a flat brass piece with the ceramic coating annihilated. my crank and rod are scruffed up too, so i will have to change both out. i have two options: 3.8L stroker crank or go with the stock crank... right now it's only a matter of funds to complete whatever needs to be done.

anyway, yeah... i learned a hard lesson. matter how 'premium' the oil is, it's imperative to change the oil every 2000 miles... just to be safe.

have you taken your car in yet? i suggest you don't drive anymore, or you might cause serious damage to the internals and even the block.

Who built your motor? Is anyone taking care of some of the costs?
