Don't do it. Just wait for Nissan to drop the 3.7 liter VQ V6 engine and redesign the Z. This is the same engine in the G37 Coupe (due out in 2008). The "370Z" should be out no later than model year 2010. That car will blow away the 2003-2007 Z with (educated guess) 350 HP/280 TQ NA. Plus, imagine the redesign possibilities with styling cues taken from the GT-R like a more svelte nose and more aggressive stance. Can't you wait a little longer and save the dough? You already have a great Z.

I have owned a '07 Enthusiast for several months and drive prmarily country roads to work every day,so can share my impressions. This car is screwed together very well! Not a rattle anywhere, and very quiet inside-so much so that in 4th gear you can hear neither the engine or exhaust.Nissan claims to have improved the exhaust, and if you drive with the window down and your head out the window it does sound better.I can't tell you how many times I forget to shift up to 5th or 6th gear-probably why my mileage is only marginal at 23-24mpg.My first experience with a 350Z was a 2003,so I can say the ride quality has improved alot without getting overly soft.To me just the right amount of road feel.It still understeers heavily, which is really annoying on the twisty roads I travel. My previous daily driver was an '02 Toyota Celica GTS with TRD suspension goodies and it handled the same roads like a gokart. The engine seems really reluctant to wind past about 5500rpm,as if being held back, though I have about 4K miles on it.I just received a set of Hotchkis sways and have ordered a Fast Intentions dual exhaust(2.5") to see if that will uncork it at higher rpms. All in all,I absolutely love this car.It is rapidly becoming one of the most favorites of all my many cars I have owned.

I traded my 06 for an 07 and have ZERO regrets. The 06 suspension was very firm in the rear. So much that certain corners (with a rise in the corner)I had to slow WAYYYY down or the rear end would get tossed up, which unweights the tires and hello oversteer and not in a good way.

The 07 suspension is softer in the rear, but I no longer have to slow down for that corner. THe 06 might be faster around a perfectly smooth track, but in the real worls we live in , the 07 is faster around the corners despite being a bit softer.

The 07 engine has much more low-end torque and better high-end horsepower than the 06. Midrange in the 07 is the same as my 06 with MREV2 and 5/16ths spacer (06 might have a slight advantage in the midrange with the mods) I was shifting the 06 ALL the time. It had no low-end grunt until 2500-3000 RPMs so I was constantly downshifting to get power. Also, the 06 engine was so buzzy at high-rpms, it begged to be up-shifted near 4500 RPMs.

The 07, you can just leave in a gear and there's plenty of grunt at 1500 RPMs. Also, like another poster, I constantly forget to shift into 5th or 6th. The engine just sings along without complaint. I NEVER forgot to shift up the 06 engine, it just sounded like it was having a hard time.

So to summarize,

Engine: When I had the 06 I wanted to mod the **** out of the engine because it was not very rewarding to drive. The 07 engine, I'd be happy leaving it how it is. Much less concerned about modding it.

Suspension: The stiff rear end of the 06 just sucked and was even dangerous in bumpy corners. I was gonna redo the whole 06 suspension... springs, shocks, sways. With the 07 I actually like how it feels. the only incentive to modding the 07 suspension is to reduce that ungly rear fender gap. But I'd hate to mess with the feel of it...

Nissan nailed it with the 07 Z. The next-gen Z has some big shoes to feel.

My Opinion on the 3.7L... I am not sure if the z will get it. Nissan is getting the GTR with a 3.7 TT. The 2008 Infinity G37 coupe got an extra 200 lbs curb weight so it needs the extra displacement. Infinity is not getting a GTR, so for Infiniti, the G37 is the flagship model. But if the z does get the 3.7, great, but I won't feel bad cause I love my 07. Z33 with the HR FTW!
