Default Going from a 04 to 07?

So after going back to the dealership with some concerns about my 2004 Z I picked up in the fall, they have put an offer on my plate.

Pretty much same payments, but for $3500 they will flip me into a 2007 Z.

I drove it, and all the stats say should be faster and better blah blah blah. But honostly, I dont know if there is a break in period when the engine will start to open up, but from the test drive, it felt slower than my 04... I have nothing done on mine other than some exhaust opened up...

Can anyone confirm or deny this nasty feeling I have? Also I don't know if I am a fan of the new steering, it steers really easily... too easily... it feels a little disconnected compared to my older one, almost toy like.

input?

but the new wheels, bi-xenons, and hood are sexy. But they would be switching me from my pretty blue to some dark silver, some carbon grey or something like that...

I heard from other Z owners that the new 306 hp is not actually faster than the previous 350z years. Some felt that the older orginal engine was faster and more torque. Can anyone confirm this??h

It is soo nice, the wheels, the interior (my interior sux), HIDs, and the new hood (i like it).

But it just feels slower, and more disconnected, all the pedels are so soft compared to mine... it feels like a toy.

I think on the 03-06 350z's I can feel more low end torque, but when driving the 07, there seems to be more power across the rpms. Also, the 03-06 z's seem to have more "road feel."

If you want a fun care I would stick with the 03-05

but if you want just a faster z, then go for the 07

Another thing to consider is that if you are planning to add on aftermarket parts (engine wise) the 07 doesn't really have much out as of now.

good luck with your decision.

See that is what I noticed, it had no problem moving, it just seemed out the hole to be doggier than mine... also it is sooo quiet compared to mine. I don't know if the steering and the new ride really inspires confidence... I wonder if when I kick out the rear if it will be as controlled as it is now in mine, or if this different suspension (they had to have changed something) will pull the same G's as mine... *sigh*

do we have a 1/4 and 60 times for the 07 compared to earlier models?

also this one has both lights (high and low) projected thru the projector, others I have seen have low in the projector, high in the mirrored housing... is this new in 07 or was it new in 06?

oh and the 07's feel more comfortable and smooth if that is what you are looking for...

I would personally stick with the 03-06

Screw comfort! lol

Have 'em keep fixing your 2004 and use the $3.5k for upgrades - or something else...

Or put that $$$$ down on the Warriors tonight...

turns out my car got repainted prior to me owning it (yes and prior to it getting keyed when I owned it). So now there are issues coming up with the paint that is on it, but it isn't nissan paint so nissan won't warranty it, even though the paint warranty still applies... also just alot of stupid little **** in the car is breaking you can tell the prior owner abused it. :-( takes owning it for a few weeks to figure it out...

Dealership won't repaint it, the best they will do is trade me up to an 07 at a good rate (really good if you knew the details)... I just dont know if I will A.) be happy with a silverish car, and B.) like that softer ride... does anyone know if it has lost handling abilities to give the softer ride?

My understanding is that the 07's make quite a bit more power and they don't have the "ringer" engine like the previous year does(makes most HP almost redline, 06 model). From the dyno charts posted, the power keeps all the way to redline at 7.5 BTW and traps speeds are higher in the quater as well as ET is lower( I believe a member here ran a 13.3 on a bone stock 07 base)

Upgrades you'll get from 04 base to 07 base as far as i can see are:

headlights
bigger brakes up front 12.6"
New motor VQ35HR > 7500rpm redline and weeeeeeeee
different hood
and don't quote me on this but I think they've taken care of some road noise on the 06+ Zs.

$3500 to go from a used 04 with a bunch of problems to a brand new 07 seems like a no brainer. you can upgrade your suspension later for something better than stock anyway.
