Yeah I really don't think I'd want to try to take care of a car with metallic paint that isn't clearcoated. I could be way off now, but I had read years ago that metallic paint shouldn't be wetsanded for example (which seems similar to buffing/polishing with compounds) because it would leave a dull finish to the metallic. I should note though, this was talking about spray paint in the context of painting computer cases. I figure it's a similar concept though. (again, I could be way off lol)
Let the paint dry overnight, use a high grit (2000 for example) for wet sand, wash and see what it looks like before clear. Clear coat (besides adding the durability and protection like zedhead said) only magnifies what is below it by making it look "wet". So wet it ans see what it looks like, because thats how it will look with clear, wet sand, and a good buffing. The type of paint (in automotive sense) will not matter TOO much, just affect the grit one might use. A practice piece can never hurt either haha

I need to buy a double flare tool to install the Hydro Ebrake on my 510, figured a bender wouldnt be a bad idea but it isnt totally necessary...not like your re-running THAT much line...
I was thinking about going to harbor freight sometime soon to pick one up. I know my neighbor has a Snap-on one thats hellaaa nice but i dont know how he feels about letting me borrow it, he is an old timer and doesnt like loaning stuff out haha...cant blame him though...i still dont know who the hell i loaned my brand new grease gun too...fuggin pisses me off! got to use it once before it went MIA...how ghey...

I wouldnt mind coming by and helping out! Ive never used a flare tool before so im curious to get some experience with it...
washed it saturday, then tuesday it rained.... i knew i shouldnt have washed it!
It's all your fault!! You brought the rain to us!
Lol I was going to wash mine Monday until I realized it was going to rain yesterday. It's still covered in bugs from the Feather River run 2 weeks ago , but that will all be fixed when I get home tonight.
that would be cool since i have no idea what i'm doing besides reading a couple write-ups haha
dumpster diving was successful! good thing my bag was the bottom one and had exploded. gooey trash keys.
LOL doh!! Thankfully that's one thing I've never done. Seriously, how do you throw away your car keys? I know you just moved so I guess they got picked up with unpacking remnants?
edit: of course, I'm the person that locked the gf's keys in the Murano the other night while it was running lol. Stupid auto locking. I unlock it to get out and see if I was far enough up the driveway, door shuts, it's locked again, WTF?

i pulled the shifter plastic thing off to clean/fix the aluminum ring that's around the shift boot, which is where i usually leave my keys. i was cleaning out my center console and glove compartment at the same time and forgot i put my keys in the passenger seat which is where i was putting all the trash
i never loose my stuff, but i think living with my gf (who constantly looses everything) is rubbing off on me.
harbor freight didn't have the bender or flare in stock and wanted $95 for it so i just ordered from online. guess i won't be installing it this weekend.
