Any of you guys ever run into the Z logo on the rear strut bar rippling and then flaking off? I noticed a few months ago mine was rippled, and now tonight I caught an edge on a cloth while I was detailing the interior and the middle of the Z is now white plastic . I'm wondering if it's possible to just replace that Z.

I found a few aftermarket sites with new covers including a carbon fiber one that looked nice, except the Z is cut out and it fits OVER the factory one. One site had covers for 03-05 and 06-08 but the weird part is they say in 06+ the cover is now a gunmetal color. My 08 has a silver colored cover on it (was like that when bought new from the dealer) so I'm not sure what to get. I guess I'm calling the parts dept tomorrow to see what I can get but I'm hoping to not have to do the whole cover since they're about $100.

Yeah I might see about that when I can get a better look in the light. I kinda liked the metal look of the Z though and I'm not sure how the metal look paints will come out. Worst case I guess it looks like crap and I have to buy a new one anyway.

Well I have a new potential win on the rear strut cover emblem. It sounds like it might be covered under factory warranty which I still have until 12/15/2011 so I'm going in Monday to get it looked at.

i had a 2nd gen mr2 and a boxter and just could never get used to the balance of an mr car. they were both completely stock though. i'm sure if i had done some suspension work and had some sticky tires the would have been much more fun.

i have a miata now and it's fun as hell, but everyone has them. i never see supercharged 1st gen mr2's.

i <3 this one

lol under 3k? thats kinda lowballin it for a "clean" blown MR2

I also agree with Max-G i never really liked driving MR cars. Ive driven an MR2 and a porshe GT3. Of course the GT3 was sickkkk to drive compared to the MR2 but then again it also costs ~90k bucks lol...

Never mind the fact that working on a mid engine sucks huge donkey cack

I think I might just stick to the Miata idea.

Well, just got finished with the dealer, wow the warranty is actually good for something on the inside. The rear strut bar cover will get replaced under warranty for peeling Z logo Going to have the battery done at the same time. I was told last service over at Maita that it was getting marginal and today Roseville told me that the charge is fine it's the CCA's that are below spec.

I had been looking at batteries but apparently since I'm still in the last 3 months of factory warranty it will cost me only $68 for my share of pro-rated factory warranty for them to put the new battery in. I can't even buy the new battery and do it myself for that $$$. It's the same 7 year warranty battery I was going to get from the parts dept. (which was cheaper than any of the stuff out on town I was looking at).
