Default Do not buy a car from McKevitt Nissan/Volvo at Berkely, CA!

One of my buddy over the weekend went to check out a used 2004 Nissan 350z advertised as a Performance model at that dealership. He does not know much about cars and does not visit any Internet forums, so he was not as well informed as most of us here about the Z. I told him about the different trim levels, and told him that car should have VLSD, TCS amongst other goodies for a Performance model.

To make a long story short, the salespeople and Manager (specifically Messiah and Anthony) colluded together to pretend they were selling a Performance model, when it was indeed a Base. My friend didn't know to look for the TCS button and little things that sets the trims apart. He did repeatedly ask all of them if they were sure it's a Performance, to which their response was always a "yes." He brought the car to my house so I can check it out that same night, to find out he got ripped off. Yes, I agree he should've done more research about the Z, but ultimately the salespeople/manager all mislead him. It was a Nissan dealership for heaven's sake, they should know their damn product.

Fortunately we found out before the 2 day return policy, so he was able to return it. We'll see if he gets all his money back, including that $500 restocking fee, or else he will take legal actions. Those guys did not act all surprised, and were dodging us and being really quite when we got there, knowing they got caught red handed. So do yourself a favor and don't buy a car from this shady dealership!

When you or your pals are bored, go down on a busy sales day/ holliday/ weekend and make sure that salesman is the one that you get. Take a few hours of his time showing you every damn car ever made. (Tell him you need a sportscar and a suv and won't beed his finacing) . A couple days of missed sales commision will serve him right.
