Great zzzz road: 49 thru the Sierras
Its a day long trip but great ride for a Z.
Started in Sacto and went up 80 to Auburn then up 49 to Neveda City.
Then took 49 from Neveda City to Sierraville and down 89 to Truckee. This stretch is a little over 100 miles and a great combination of switchbacks ( about 10% of the drive), sweeping curves (75%), and straightaways (15%).
One hell of a nice ride. All good two lane road
Almost no traffic on the Neveda City-Sierraville stretch. Little town named Downieville provides a breakpoint for lunch about halfway.
From Truckee I took I80 back to Sacto. But if you have not had enough you could take 20 off of I80 to Grass Valley & Marysville then back to Sacto.
Trip takes most of the day. We were gone 8 hours and still felt a little rushed.

down 395 to Herlong Motel ed (motel let us open the Bar & play pool, music & drink, mgr. couldn't figure out where the $40+ came from in the morning.) Then 89 to I-80 and home. We totaled 360+ miles for the weekend.

Sounds like a great ride.
Do you remember how you got to Susansville from Sierraville?
Looking at the map I don't see how you got to Susansville...unless you went up 395 & then back down.

I live in Nevada city. I make that drive as much as possible! Too bad I didn't know I would have loved to have met up and cruised along for the ride. If any of you ever visit my neighborhood feel free to hit me up I can recommend some nice areas and places to eat etc.

Sorry about that, We turned off Rt.49 at Sattly just before Siaraville and went up Rt.89 to Rt.70/89 to Rt.89 again to Canyon Dam and up Rt.147, on East side of Lake Almanor, to Rt.36 to Susanville. Then we went down Rt. 395 to are motel in Herlong.
