duplicate key bay area

do me a favor. .use the new key and just hold the programmed key near the ignition while u crank and see what happens.. . ..
and i fu buy a key i belive the dealer can program any key!

I tried it several times - under, over and beside the ignition when turning key copy but the Z will still NOT start - just cranks.
Also what it did was disable the Z that not even the orig. key will not work.
I had to enable/disable the FOB to reset the Z so it will start again using the orig. key.
No other way now but have a transponder key programmed to work. Sucks!

ok so i looked in the yellow pages, and i found a couple places that duplicate transponder keys. they're closed right now so i'm going to give them a call tomorrow. i'll get back to you guys.

yes your right. .i just called my parts guy. .the z was supposed to come with 3 keys. .2 regular keys. .and one Valet key. .all which are chipped. .because the valet key also needs to be able to start the car. .beats me what else it can/cant do so a valet key was probably a waste to begin with. .not like u can lock the glove box. .but w/e. .3 keys it is!!!

i personally never had a chipped key done by them, but i use them for like cylinder coding and what not. But Ausbery locksmith here in NJ does chipped keys. .im not sure how much but if i remember correctly it was around 50 as well. .

There's a sponsor advertising here lawerancelocksmithinc that has mobile service. I emailed him to see what he charges for our keys and programming. Plus, I asked if he has a walk in service.

My glove box locks... Would be nice if it would limit the speed of the car so it couldn't go past say, 25mph. Keep Valet drivers from joyriding in our cars. But you are right they are useless IMO on the Z since we dont have trunks.
