Any good roads to drive in Sonoma (russian river area/healdsburg)
Wondering if anyone know any good roads to drive in and around Russian River. Gonna do some wine tasting tomorrow, and just wondering if there are any nice quiet roads I can drive and enjoy some scenary.
Muahahaha.
Skaggs Springs road at Lake Sonoma/Healdsburg. The road is actually known around the world believe it or not. It's california's version of that Tail of the Dragon thing in Carolina or wherever that place is.
I have drug my knee on that road many a times for years in the past on sportbikes and have never once seen a Sheriff, CHP or cop. Once in a blue moon you may see a Park Ranger but they don't even give speeders a second look. Smooth as glass pavement. Go in the Spring or fall during the week or early morning on a weekend and you will be lucky to see 3 cars in 12 miles of turn after turn after turn. Road speed limit is posted at 30MPH but you can drive it all day at 65-70+ in a car and 90+ and tripple digits on a bike on some straight sections but there is only 2 straights and they're short.
One of the last times I was out there on a bike taking a break some guys looked like in their 50's were tearing it up in a 911.
have fun.
This is a biker site but it has info on lots of roads in CA including the one I mentioned.
