I may be wrong, but I thought legally, you're suppose to get the license changed within 10 days (or whatever) after you move to CA and have the Intention of living there. IE, College students are there for school purpose, so it wouldn't require it.

In Vegas, we have the same laws (30 days) but we have so many damn tourists from CA, they couldn't/wouldn't bother. (Side note, I said Vegas, not NV because I don't really believe in the rest of the state.)

well my licence and stuff was valid i dont have any warrants or anything in hawaii. i also found out that in a similar case at the same spot, someone got off because there is no STOP painted on the road even though there is a sign. so im hoping that will work too. im going to go take a picture of it tomorrow. the licence ticket was just a fix it so thats no problem. just the stop sign is a problem. dont need that going on my record. im deffinetly going to protest it. just not sure if should go written or court. either way im going to protest. and yes in the end the car did get towed. that cop was a ******. i did the rolling stop because i saw no pedestrians and the thing kind of splits with a stop light and there was a green. so i felt it was safe and not putting anyone in danger. so i just did a rolling. but i just felt like i got screwed. especially when he did the mexican comment. good thing is, i had a witness.

If you move to CA, you need to address getting a CA license within a prescibed time frame. If you're merely VISITING from another state you can drive here as long as you are visiting. Welcome to CA. Enjoy your visit.

nudge nudge.

If you were picking up the key just a block away, why didn't you walk?

By any chance are you in the Military? because I know that I live in California... But if I was to get stationed say in any other state... I am not required to get a license from that state because I would still be a California residend... (errr... something like that... )

Yeah I agree call a lawyer... He can't profile like that...

This is the bullsh!t I'm talking about. There is no "description" of an illegal immigrant. Just because your skin was brown means you're an illegal? You might as well spoken to him in broken spanish. If cops can't even tell who is legal and who isn't how are we suppose to enforce this rule? Phucking ridiculous.
Though this is considered racial profiling IMO, it does not eliminate the fact that you didn't have your driver's license with you. Or the fact that you "Yield" instead of stopping. I know you're from Hawaii, but I'm sure the stop signs look the same. Why would you Yield and not stop?
It might be in his best interest to eliminate the infraction, and withdraw your complain, if you choose to do so. Definitely get a lawyer.
