Default Got F***ed Over by a Cop Today

So my friend drops his G35 off with me this morning for me to change out the headlight bulbs while hes in class. I get to having to jack up the car and take off the rims when i realize on of them needs a key. So i go just a block to pick up the key i figured i wouldnt need to worry just a block, left my licence at home. come to a stop sign, do the yeild instead of stop, sure enough theres a ****in cop. pulls me over. i pull over. then starts were i get ****ed..

O(Officer), M(Me)
O: You know why im pulling you over?
M: Not really officer im sorry.
O: You failed to stop at the stop sign.
M: Im sorry I dont really drive in the area alot, im here from hawaii.
O: May I your licence?
M: Im sorry I dont have it on me i just went a block but i could go to my house and get it. Its right up the block.
O: No. Whats your name? date of birth?
M: (Give him my info)
O: So how long have you been here?
M: Since August
O: Give me the keys.
M: (Gave him the keys not knowing what I was in for.)
O: Im going to tow the car?
M: Are you serious? (at that point I just got pissed.) Why?
O: You need a California Drivers licence within 10 days. Weve been cracking down on this because illegal mexicans have been getting licences in oregon and driving in california.
M: Can I just get the owner to drive the car? I can get him here in 5 minutes.
O: No Im towing the car.

At that point I just gave up already. I was pissed. First of all I dont know the ****ing rules about licencing. Second of all im somewhat brown, however im not a mexican. he called the tow truck before he was radioed back verifying my information about my hawaii drivers licence being legit. makes me kind of think he thought i was an illegal immigrant or something. im just pissed off. biker cops in hawaii are ****** apparently they are in san francisco. just needed to vent..

Sorry about that...at least I've now learned to never give my keys to a cop. I'm from Panama and the day I get the Mexican B.S. pulled on me that cop's gonna get fired!

So did the car end up getting towed even though your license was legit? And what are you going to tell your friend about his car being towed?

I believe you can somehow appeal that because you do have a valid license. So you may be able to get away without having to pay a fine but you may still have to pay the impound fees.

My suggestion is to look in to an attorney just for advice. Even if you don't hire them, since they deal with this stuff all the time, they can give you direction. Give an attorney a call.

You deserve it for driving without a license. No sympathy here.

Damn, sorry to hear about one messed up situation. Sounds like something that would happen at a H.I.N. event.

File a complaint on that officer for Racial Profiling. It is misconduct on his part to have told you that they are "Cracking down on illegal Mexicans". The correct terminology on his part should have been "Illegal Immagrants" without singling out a specific race... I can see the ticket for running a stop but to get your car towed is a little too much. By the comment made about Mexicans it sounds like you were racially profiled and incorrectly at that.

I though about that also. However, to use this ammo effectively, you need a gun called a 'lawyer'.

Get a lawyer / attorney.

If anything, RR Z33, an attorney can provide you with direction which is crucial in these matters. I called an attorney for a court clip-up that impacted me and I got everythign cleared-up (it was a complicated mess) and the first time I ever encountered such a mistake.

WTF!

You do not need a california driver's license to operate a vehicle here. A hawaii driver's license is just fine. I am sensing some racial discrimination from that cop...

This never happens back home
