Thumbs down Yet another Serramonte Nissan rant

Serramonte Nissan, Daly City, California.
I guess it's my own stupidity for continuing to return to this joke called a service center. To sum up my latest, horrible experience....
Will, the "service adviser" that I have been stuck with is blaming the following problems...
-loud creaking sound from front left when going over any sort of bump, and even when launching (goes away after driving for 15-20 minutes)
-engine pinging on accel. at around 2.5k rpms (verified by Z-Car Garage in San Jose)
-loud ticking when engine is warm. Not a constant tick, but sporadic, yet in time with normal engine ticking)
-Tranny whine, and very, VERY loud whistle at 40mph when it's cold out, for the first 10 minutes of driving
.....on my SWAY BARS AND ENGINE TORQUE DAMPER!
Yes, they/he is trying to say all these problems could be caused due to my having aftermarket sway bars, and engine torque damper. I mentioned to him that I bought these parts AFTER I had already brought the car to them 3-4 times for these exact same problems. My installing these parts had absolutely no effect on the issues I am having. After explaining to him that there was absolutely no way an engine damper could cause the car to make a creaking sound when going over bumps, he said even if the damper was removed, he wouldn't be able to do anything about it because the warranty for fixing suspension issues is void after 1 year or 12,500 miles as it is considered a tightening/lubing fix. I pointed out that it has a 3 year bumper to bumper warranty, which he said did not apply in this case.
Also, I should mention that they DID actually replace one of my headlights for free a few months ago when an LED went out. But in the process they scratched my bumper removing the push pins, and the headlights aren't even close to lining up correctly. Though they claim the headlight alignment is in "spec". Also, I pointed out to them that after the last oil change when they changed my headlight, they did not put 2 of the bolts back on (the ones that hold the tray underneath), and 1 of the bumper bolts was only half way screwed in. They claim that since I have 2 TINY dents in my front bumper, and one on my rear bumper, that the car is damaged and is most likely the cause of the missing bolts. Will did not care to listen to me when I mentioned those dents have been there for almost 2 years, and I noticed the missing bolts 1 week after they "worked" on my car. He cut me off, and refused to take any blame for the low quality of the work done to my car.
I'm fairly certain of the causes for each of my problems, yet they refuse to do anything about any of them and seem to know very little about these cars and how to fix them. Why is it such a battle? Doesn't Nissan reimburse them for their warranty work? It's not like this would come out of their pockets. I just don't get it.

Also, I forgot to mention, foreseeing another nightmare from this place, I swapped my popcharger out for the stock intake before I brought it in. I can't even imagine what BS would have been thrown at me if I had the popcharger in there. Thankfully the idiots didn't see the plenum or throttlebody spacers.
I'm surprised they didn't blame my varis air duct for the tranny whistle/whine.

Sounds like your typical BS. Places like these just go thru the motions of repair without actually fixing anything. Then either try passing the buck (to customer) or lie their a**off.

I would look for another service place asap, before these dummys break something major.

Sorry to hear,

I've been going to Serramonte Nissan too for the past 4 years, unfortunately the oringinal survice manager Edwin, is no longer there. He would fix whatever you wanted as long as you were cool and legit.

Will, he's the new service manager and I've only dealt with him once and I didn't get a very good inpression with him, he likes to give people the run-around with things. Most of the time I think he's full-of-shet, do you still have warrenty under nissan? I would advise you to talk with a warrenty specialist over there and they can actually sit down and go over in writting what is really covered or not. And then Will can't despute the matter...

Good luck man.... maybe I'll see you on 280 again

I have the same problem with my front suspension when going over speed bumps. I took it in to Fremont Nissan and they told me my sway bar had a loose bolt and they had fixed the problem... Well guess what??? Its still making that damn loud creaking sound. I think it has to be something else that they aren't telling us or want to fix. Im taking mine in until it is fixed.

Just a heads up. I always get that creaking on my accord (dd) after winter. I just tell the dealer and they just lube up the suspension and its good. They do it free when i get my oil changed and its a 1996 so its not under warrenty. Ask your dealer to oil/lube the suspension.

Sorry to hear your having so much BS given to you by the dealer .
But if you do have the time to drive and some time to spare stop by my guy which is:

Jose @ Superior Nissan of Fremont (510.651.5800)
And you won't have to worry about taking any of your aftermarket part off your Z before heading to the dealer.

Just tell Jose that Eric with the black Z sent ya

He will take care you like he does with me

Good luck ...

Hey dude,
Yeah it's still under warranty. I'm gonna talk to Nissan North America (again) and hopefully get this resolved. But I'm definitely not goin back there again.

Well, it may be an issue that can be fixed with some lube. But this guy is being a tight *** and using the 1 year/12,500 miles "adjustment" period as reason to not care about it.

Fremont is a bit far from here, but close enough to consider going there.
Thanks man!

I had this problem for months before I got the sways. They had no effect on the noise once they were installed.

Sorry to hear about this stuff going on with an in warranty car... when I bought my car, before I signed, I asked to talk to the service manager. We were introduced and I politely grilled him about his view on warranty work, and was extremely pleased with his answers. Obviously that don't mean crapola when it comes time to pony up, but I had already heard that they were good. The aftermarket thing scares me, the whole knee bone is connected to the neck bone BS that you can get is just painful. If I upgrade anything (like suspension or exhaust etc.) I will be installing nismo slightly overpriced stuff so I don't get any of that crap.

Again, sorry to hear your issues, and hope they get straightened out.

I got my slave cylinder recall done at Serramonte Nissan. I met Will, and he gave me a weird look when he saw that I had Nismo wheels and an exhaust on my car. After the recall, I'm having problems shifting into 6 gear. 1 through 5 are fine, even reverse. It takes a little more force to shift into 6. Is this normal or did they screw up my car? I can't remember how the shifting was like prior to the recall because I only drove the car for 2,500 miles.

BTW..the service department at Serramonte Jeep (across the street)is even worst. I will never step foot in that Jeep dealer again.

Gotta just love incompetent service depts with jerk advisors.
File complaint with NNA and go to different dealer. For sure mention about the damage and the song n dance from them.
Know a few Z peeps and they stay away from Serramonte like the plague.

Don't know about Z's, but G's have a TSB on the front compression rods for creaking noises/issues. 1yr/1200mi warranty...lol...that Will guy is a tool.

and another thing the reason why hes giving you that crap about warranty is because 1) they don't paid that much to do it and 2) they will say something about it once it's out of warranty so they can a lot of money for it. those are 2 things that i see at my shop
